POSITION SUMMARY
 
Purpose
 
To execute hydrogen project process design flawlessly, on budget and on schedule.
 
Nature and Scope
 
The job holder is the senior principal process engineer in IG Asia and reports directly to the process engineering manager. The primary accountability of the job is to bid and execute the process and process system design of ammonia or ammonia related opportunity/projects on budget, on schedule and meeting the plant performance.
 
The scope of the position holder mainly includes process engineering and process system activity for liquid ammonia storage, liquid ammonia transportation and ammonia cracking plant.
 
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
 

1. Lead technical qualification of vendor’s design, review and comment on vendor’s design to meet Air Products process design requirement and safety requirement, communicate with global technology manager on any issues on vendor’s design and work on technical solutions, for green ammonia or related projects.
2. Lead trouble shooting of plants if any. Identify process technology/design gap, propose solutions and communicate with China process manager and technology managers.
3. Identify local codes and regulations requirement for ammonia plant design. Communicate with local authorities for clarification of local codes and regulations. Make sure process design meet local code and regulation requirement.
4. Prepare, Check and approve (if delegated by process manager) process deliverables for projects, for ammonia projects.
5. Prepare PFD and P&ID and change notes for ammonia projects.
6. Participate in / lead P&ID review meetings (ORC, DHR) and manage the resolution of project technical issues for ammonia projects
7. Prepare plant operating manuals for ammonia projects.
8. Prepare plant shut down matrix and permissive table for ammonia projects
9. Provide on-job training and mentoring for less experienced engineers on ammonia plant design.
10. Organize work so that he/she can meet deadlines dictated by project schedules and the Process Manager, yet have some flexibility to respond to unforeseen situations.  Brief process manager at any time on the status of work he/she is assigned to.
11. Liaise with other engineering disciplines to agree on operational and interface details.  Take the initiative in resolving interface problems.  Identify work process gap/inconsistency. Develop and liaise with other regions on work process and be a content owner for job aid on specific area as requested.
12. Other process works as assigned.

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
 

1. Bachelor or above degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant engineering majors. Demonstrated skills at applying chemical or mechanical engineering.
2. Should typically have above 15 years working experience in design institute or relevant engineering field.
3. Must be familiar with GB code related to ammonia storage, ammonia transportation, ammonia (synthesis) production and ammonia cracking. Must have experience of working with local authorities on GB code clarification and compliance.
4. Must be experienced in process, process system and process safety design in ammonia storage, ammonia transportation, ammonia (synthesis) production or ammonia cracking. Engineering experience in chlorine is a plus.
5. Must be able to identify the main safety risks in ammonia plants and be familiar with common safeguards in a ammonia plant design.
6. Must be conscientious, self-motivating, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision, whilst ensuring high quality of work.
7. Must have proven ability as a specialist engineer as shown by successfully leading several projects within budgeted ***-hours, and to schedule.
8. Fluent in reading, listening and speaking in English
