Job description
The SAP BW/BO Senior Technical Developer will provide leadership and direction in defining and maintaining the integrity of the functional process designs, standards, and SAP BW and SAP BO configuration. Incumbent will work with other SAP members, IT staff, and functional leaders to analyze proposed changes to SAP technical configuration settings for overall optimization.
The role includes the definition, delivery, and production support of the technical SAP design and data standards to support the overall corporate strategies and objectives for SAP BW and SAP BO functions. You should have a team-based comprehensive skill set in BW/BO functionality.
SAP Business Warehouse specific responsibilities:
- Creation of queries and workbooks using BW 7.x BEx /Analyzer & Web Application Designer and develop BW reporting user exits
- Accountable for the full project life cycle, with emphasis on the translation of user requirements into specifications for complex logical data models, source data capture, dictionary design, data integrity and overall data warehouse design
- Develop, create, monitor, and schedule (where appropriate) the necessary BW objects (e.g. InfoObjects, ODS, InfoCubes, InfoPackages, InfoSources, Datasources, Extractors, Transfer Rules, Update Rules) Although working in a BW 7.x environment, incumbent should have good understanding of backend 3.x environment - as work will include both 3.x and 7.x backend
- Good understanding and troubleshooting ability for BW transport management including collection, migration and validation of objects.
- Work with Security team to design analysis authorizations/roles in BW and test with reports and users
- Strong capabilities to write and debug ABAP in a BW environment
SAP Business Objects specific responsibilities:
- Manage integration of SAP Business Objects (XI 3.1) to SAP BW and SAP R/3 environments
- Develop Universes in SAP Business Objects for data from SAP R/3, SAP BW and non-SAP sources
- Development reports and dashboards utilizing Webi, Crystal Reports, Xcelsius, Business Explorer
- Develop security within Central Management Console (CMC) in SAP Business Objects and test with reports and users
Overall Responsibilities:
- Assist in the definition of business requirements.
- Perform analysis and tuning of the BW and BO environment.
- Coordinate with Basis and SAP COE team and provide assistance in the optimization and management of BW and BO systems.
- Coordinate testing and implementation of service packs, patches and hot fixes to BW and BO.
- Implement technical project plans for SAP BW/BO function.
- Perform initial testing of problem fixes, change request, enhancements, and new functionality in BW and BO environments.
- Work with the end users for troubleshooting, data validation, installations and act as a general reporting resource.
- Assist with training activities and mentor Greenlee BW and BO support team members.
- Work with SAP to resolve software bugs and keep abreast of SAP releases, enhancements/new functionality and perform application research.
- Ensure SAP service levels are met, and project objectives are accomplished within budget and deadline.
REQUIRED:
- 2+ years (or 2 full implementations with SAP BW ( SAP BW v7.x preferred)
- Expertise in InfoObjects, ODS, InfoCubes, InfoPackages, InfoSources, Datasources, Extractor, and Transfer Rules
- Depth of experience in BW BEx/Analyzer & Web Application Designer design and development
- In-depth knowledge BW Administrator Workbench
- Experience designing components to support both top-down and bottom-up planning
- Key competency should exist in troubleshooting production issues and extraction and transformation loads.
2+ years with SAP BO. Expertise should include:
- Experience with SAP Business Objects tools (XI 3.1 preferred) and integration between them and SAP Business Warehouse and/or SAP R/3 or ECC environment
- Universe development experience in SAP Business Objects
- Development experience utilizing Webi, Crystal Reports, Xcelsius, Business Explorer
- Experience with Central Management Console ( CMC ) in SAP Business Objects
