POSITION SUMMARY
To lead Air Products’ regional Project Planning Group, to ensure successful execution of all (Sale of Gas) and third party (Sale of Equipment) businesses. Ensuring competitiveness, successful asset creation, productive internal and external interfaces, risk management, and talent management. Asset creation work involves developing, bidding, and executing projects. Multi-faceted planning, decision-making, and communication accountabilities span the above factors. Provide management of resources, system tools and work processes required to support the project management organization in the delivery of cross function and cross regional engineering and construction projects. Develop, optimize and continually improve all aspects of the project Planning unit functions to service a board portfolio of projects ranging from highly standardized / small scale (assets values around $0.5MM - $3MM) through to complex and unique facilities with asset values in the order of $500MM and above. Provide guidance and direction to ensure the project planning execution plan and reporting structure is tailored to suit the project execution strategy and needs from both an internal and external aspect. Ensure that project assigned resources provide accurate and timely reporting input to the project and work within the project applicable procedures and process workflows. To fulfill the requirements of the position the incumbent must develop collaborative working relationships with Global Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM) team members, Business Leadership, Law, Tax, Treasury, Finance and Procurement. Developing client relationships when required to deliver a professional project planning capability to meet our customers needs. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop an industry leading regional project planning team capable of managing internal/external customer projects including EPCs, both within the office and construction site, consisting of Project Planning, Cost Engineering and Document Control as well as quantity surveyors and estimators as required under the project
• Establish and manage robust IT systems and project control functional discipline work processes to provide reliable and consistent reporting to ensure that we can meet the project, regional/global project portfolio and business requirements.
• Collaborate with the project execution team to develop and deliver competitive execution strategies, ensuring the growth of Air Products businesses whilst consistently delivering on project commitments in terms of cost and schedule.
• Develop and maintain accurate progress & earned value measurement systems for engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning to ensure credible control throughout the project execution phase.
• Develop and support cost controls systems and procedures to enable accurate monthly and quarterly cost forecasts, including change management and cost trending reports to ensure we demonstrate robust cost control.
• Develop and maintain the capabilities of the regional team to ensure that we can support the business needs across the broad portfolio of offerings.
• Drive close collaboration with and support across the other regional and global teams to ensure effective resource sharing, lessons learned, best practices and the development of appropriate work processes and procedures across the global execution teams.
• Provide strong leadership to the team and the Global Engineering & Manufacturing organization to ensure that Air Products reputation as a world-class engineering Company is enhanced in the market place.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate caliber engineer.

• Minimum 15 years’ projects/project controls experience. Strong in application of project management principles, methodologies and tools. Sound knowledge of project controls principles including AP tools and systems, with a track record of delivering accurate information, reporting and guidance to senior management.
• Determined, adaptable and resilient. Able to lead teams to achieve success under significant pressure, evolving requirements, and conflicting priorities.
• Culturally astute. Experience and ability to understand and adapt leadership and management style to different cultures associated with multi-region project execution, and to therefore achieve success with a multi-cultural team. Experience of Customer and external stakeholder regional cultures, and proven ability to achieve success with those cultures.
• Relationship network. Established and proven internal relationships with key individuals in all teams in all regions, with the ability to build strong relationships to apply leverage to execute the project.
• Internal strength/weakness/opportunity/threat awareness. Knowledge of the capabilities and weaknesses associated with all internal project contributors, by region and by individuals. Able to assign scope and responsibilities accordingly and understand how to respond to different conflicting voices during project execution.
• Strong and articulate communicator. Able to adapt communication style to diverse internal and external audiences, and successfully communicate key messages and achieve desired influence.
• Proven Leadership Skills. Track record of successfully leading a team to developing systems and work processes to meets complex project and contractual demands, including recruiting and developing individuals. A strong work ethic and team motivation skills with demonstrated commercial and technical acumen.
• Core competencies: Commercial and technical acumen, detailed working knowledge of project controls tools and systems. Leadership skills in planning, cost control, estimating, quantity surveying, document control, risk analysis, portfolio management coupled with a working knowledge of project management, business development and finance.
