POSITION SUMMARY
Business development team in China is responsible for developing opportunities to sell tonnage industrial gases or plants, including air separation units (ASU) to produce bulk gas oxygen and nitrogen, gasification and purification units to produce syngas in coal chemical industry. Business Development Specialist will assist Business Development Manager (BDM) or Business Development Director (BDD) to develop new opportunities, follow up existing or potential customers and prepare business proposals for bidding and winning projects in China.

To continue support rapid growth in China market, China Business Development will expand its team to develop more potential customers while maintaining good relationships with existing customers.
Business Development Specialist will support BDM or BDD on daily work, responsible for the development of their opportunities from start to finish. This includes the Pre-bid screening, Commercial Bid Kick off, Opportunity Summary Document (OSD) preparation, SAR/EAR, interface with internal Business Development Support(BDS), Treasury, Tax, Finance, Legal, Engineering (GEMET) and other functional teams. Business Development Specialist must participate in proposal preparation in cooperation with Engineering, Engineering relationships, approvals, senior management reporting, contract negotiation, commercial negotiation etc. The role is primarily commercially focused, and although there will be technical support from within the group, there is a need to have/develop basic technical and analytical skills. Customer engagement is key to drive profitable sales and develop and sustain strong business relationships.
Frequent travel is required to meet customers on a regular basis. It is expected that approximately 50~70% of working time will be out of office.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Embody the 4S culture of Safety, Speed, Simplicity and Self-Confidence within and outside Air Products;
- Work closely with BDS, GEMET, Marketing, Legal, Tax and other necessary functional teams for opportunities screening and pre-bidding preparation;
- Assist BDM or BDD to develop connections with potential customers or opportunities;
- Initiate and lead proposal activities: This includes as described in more detail above: bid screening, opportunity summary documentation and proposal preparation, coordinating and technical and commercial clarification meetings and making meeting notes, contracts terms negotiations and cost estimating;
Job Requirements
- College Degree in Business or Engineering with 1~3 years of working experience and selling experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge or understanding of industrial gases or coal chemical technology
- Must be good at building relationships and have good communication skills at all levels within the company and with customers, across different national boundaries, cultures and time zones in standard Mandarin and English.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player who can deliver an individual contribution to the team without much supervision and direction.
- Must have good English skills for communicating with and obtaining information from international employees from US, Europe and Asia via e-mail or similar tools when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressures with minimum supervision.
