Operations- Technical Development - Leather Accessiores

Manage the development process, from prototyping phase until salesman sample (with involvement in industrialization phase), coordinating the information flow between all interfaces (creative department, development centre, GZ Sourcing Office, Operations Procurement, Vendors)

Ensure a pro-active, precise, relevant, pertinent and consistent communication flow to allow the timely realization of industrialized products, in line with company targets in terms of price, quality, workmanship, functionality, durability, etc

Pre-Development phase

· Review allocation plan with Hof

· Check and Share with vendors the development schedule

· Verify capacity vs development schedule

Development phase

· Receive and review sketches with vendors to evaluate/ensure that:

- no informations are missing

- informations received are clear and consistent

- project is feasible in terms of construction, materials, MOQ, costs, target price achievement, etc. having clear in mind bulk production possibilities/constraints

· Brief vendors concerning the details of the project. If needed clarify all open points timely.

· Ensure that vendors are providing materials (including reinforcements) in line with Material Quality Assessment (MQA) manual and RSL Standards, in coordination with Quality Management

· Verify timing/availability of all materials/components required for the realization of the prototypes

· Provide cutting standards and verify consumptions

· Confirm materials quality and colours

· Follow up timing of the development project

· Support and provide technical solutions for prototypes production, checking that prototypes are made according to technical sheets’ specifications

· Verify that workmanship is up to expectations/standards

· Follow up prototypes shipments to be on time for internal meetings

· Report about eventual difficulties/constraints and propose solution/alternatives, in line with Creative Department’s expectations

· Timely verify that all provided comments/requested modification after each prototype meeting are well understood and implemented by vendors

· Share informations with Quality Management for pre-industrialization of the products

Salesman sample phase

· Upon request:

- Confirm materials quality and colours

- Provide final confirmations before start of sms production

· Monitor:

- timing/availability of all materials/components required for the realization of the salesman samples

- progress of sms production and overview of planned shipments

- quality and workmanship of the sms

- labelling and packaging standards

- timely arrival of product’s quotations

· Study/prepare all necessary information for price negotiation

Industrialization

· Prepare first draft of Approval Forms (AF)

· Actively take part in industrialization meeting to review Sales *** Samples and definitively handover all relevant information to Quality Management and Production management

General:

· Manage all processes according to given deadlines

· Identify and anticipate critical points during development process

· Ensure respect of company quality guidelines and RSL standards

· Work closely with all internal and external interfaces, ensuring a smooth information flow

· Mediate and facilitate communications between all parties, to ensure that:

- project is studied, discussed and feasible for the specific vendor

- creative department’s requests are fulfilled

- target prices are achieved

Key Performance Indicators

· Respect of given deadlines for decisions and communications

· Prototypes and sales *** samples shipped on time

· Target price achievement

Requirements

• At least 10 years technical experience in leather accessories making industry, with at least 5 years in development related positions
• Excellent knowledges of materials, constructions, machinery and workmanship
• Extensive experience with high-end leather accessories is requested
• Ability to identify potential problems and to provide solution
• Good written/spoken English and Mandarin are a must. Cantonese is a plus.
• Skilful in computer operating
• Highly organized and effective
• Flexible and adaptable, to follow changes in a continuously evolving environment
• Team player, with open mind and willing to learn
• Willing to travel
