Client Summary:

Our client brings together two different activities: Creating international sports products & brands and local and on-line retail. These two areas of expertise, along with all the brands, are united behind a common purpose: Together, create desirability and make the pleasure and benefits of sport accessible to everyone.

Decathlon, the original chain created in 1976 near Lille, and the other local and on-line retail formats, sell Passion brand products, made with materials provided by their Component brands, and also the major international brands. They control the whole product development chain: from research to sale, including design, production and logistics.

Their racket sports brand is looking for a highly talented Senior Footwear Designer to join its China based design and development teams (Fujian province and partly Shanghai).

Responsibilities:
As a Senior Footwear Designer you will work under the responsibility of their local Technical Director and be the exclusive link with the European based footwear design teams to ensure the highest design quality for the their shoe ranges (Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Padel).

Follow up and development role: Based in their racket sports footwear development centre, you will be the liaison with the European design teams. Starting from the validated design files, your role will be to prototype, develop, accelerate and improve the footwear development process.

Your creative role will be to create the designs of the worldwide Badminton footwear ranges starting from the local product manager’s brief to the follow-up at their development centre. To do so you will join the Shanghai based team during the creative phases to ensure a close collaboration with the product manager and access all the relevant information gathered by the local design teams. With the support of local design teams and through a structured market observation, you will be responsible for identifying the relevant local and global market trends and creatively translate them on the future Badminton footwear collections.

You will participate in the creation and the respect of the brand’s design language and product identity with the help of the adapted tools and the European design team and you will have the opportunity to travel to the France based Headquarters for yearly trainings and strategic meetings.


Requirements:
- You are passionate about racket sports. You have a strong design and footwear culture and can identify with your final customer
- 3 - 6 years successful footwear design experience and a very clear knowledge of the footwear production process (factory in situ follow-up)
- Self-starting and self-management abilities are critical
- Top notch research, problem solving, sketching, 2D illustrating, 3D modelling/rendering, prototyping skills (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop are a minimum 3D pattern software like Crispin are a plus)
- Strong and well structured oral communication skills (fluency in English is mandatory)
