Job Title: Manager of Foreign Trade (China)

Level: Manager

Reporting: Foreign Trade Manager (US)

Background and General Requirements: Lam Research Corporation is a U.S. corporation with offices and customers in various countries in Europe and Asia (see our website at www.lamrc.com). As a large and important part of Lam's business, we frequently export semiconductor capital equipment and related technology to Lam China and Chinese customers. U.S. export laws strictly control the export of this equipment and technology. This requires close coordination between Lam U.S., Lam China, and Customers to ensure appropriate export licenses are obtained from the U.S. government, and to ensure management and technology controls are in place in the Lam China and other Lam Asia regional offices. The Manager of Foreign Trade in China would work closely with the entire Lam China management staff and Lam Asia regional Controllers to ensure Lam is in compliance with all U.S. and local export laws and regulations to allow successful business operations in China.

Job Responsibilities:

? Maintains requirements of Internal Control Plan (ICP) and Technology Control Plan (TCP) throughout all Lam China operations and levels of management
? Maintains and oversees audit requirement of TCP in other Lam Asia region offices
? Interfaces with Lam China account GM's and Chinese customers and represent these needs and concerns so that they will be effectively communicated to the U.S. government
? Oversees U.S. export license application initiation and preparation of all supporting documents. Coordinates with Fremont Foreign Trade group on any follow up to BIS regarding individual system and bulk spares export licensing. Coordinates with sales people on getting end user acknowledgement on license conditions.
? Responsible for renewing and regularly updating Special Comprehensive License (SCL) and Lam china Technology License to meet the business need
? Asia region expert on U.S. and China export laws, Lam foreign trade policy and procedures, and current and proposed special licenses and understand how they affect Lam operations. Trains Lam China and other regional management on these requirements, and assist Lam Fremont Foreign Trade in establishing internal procedure and controls to remain effective (ICP/TCP)
? Local expert in China Customs regulations including CIQ requirements and builds effective working relationships with the Chinese government. Provides guidance to logistics and spares group on China import/export processes
? Provides guidance and support on any Customs/VAT/Duty related issues within Asia

Required Skills:

? Leadership - this role will require a dynamic, working leader to assist the Controller and GM in effecting all areas of operations and management
? Interpersonal - the individual must be able to build strong relationships with management but also must be able to tactfully address problem areas and escalate to the GM or Foreign Trade Sr. Director when necessary
? Initiative - the individual must be aggressive self starter who can quickly grasp complex export and operational requirements and promptly develop action plans
? Technical - the individual must be able to learn and understand the basic fundamentals of Lam technology to be able to understand the relationship between technology and export laws
? Presentation and Training - formal and informal training on a routine basis
? Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
? Project management
? Experience with SAP and SAP GTS module a plus

Education Requirements:

? Business degree in related discipline (business, management, operations, finance), Master's or MBA preferred
