  Summary

  

 

  

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for designing, coding, integrating, testing and debugging software for Embedded Devices. This position within global R&D is responsible for the design and development firmware for our core power tool technologies.  The role will work in collaboration with a team consisting of firmware engineers, project management and product marketing managers to develop new products.  This position reports to the Engineering Manager, R&D.

  

Key Responsibilities

  

 

  

• Responsible for the architecture and design of front-end as well as back-end software

  

• Derive and create high-level software design specifications from use cases, marketing requirements, and customer requirements documents

  

• Responsible for delivering projects on time and to specification

  

• Break high-level software design down to low-level software design, with required workflows, software specification, data models, etc.

  

• Responsible for writing technical documents

  

• Work with software testers, system testers, product technical specialists and customers to troubleshoot, debug and optimize software

  

• Create software and documentation per the requirements and specifications

  

 

  

 Education and Training

  

 

  

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science required, Master’s degree in software engineering preferred
• >3 years of experience in software architecture, design and development

  

• Solid programming experience in C (C++ preferred)

• Good understanding of embedded software designs

• Networking / TCP-IP

• VCS (e.g. GIT / SVN)
