Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Compliance Counsel, Asia-Pacific will assist in the oversight of legal compliance across the Asia-Pacific region by the company and its Board of Directors, management, employees and business partners with applicable laws and the company's Standards of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities:


* Overseeing all legal compliance activities for the Asia-Pacific region

* Creating and collaborating on processes and programs to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations

* Providing compliance advice to business units around the globe on subject matter including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other applicable anti-corruption laws, US export compliance, data privacy, and competition laws

* Overseeing and conducting internal investigations into alleged violations of laws, regulations, and the Standards of Business Conduct

* Developing and conducting training materials to educate employees about ethics and compliance issues

* Participating in transactional diligence for compliance-related areas

* Working closely with Internal Audit, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to conduct periodic compliance reviews and assessments

* Managing outside counsel

* Monitoring industry compliance trends and advising internal personnel on compliance best practices

* Generally applying combined business and legal judgment to proposed deals, relationships, and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention
Qualifications:

Education: J.D.

Experience: A minimum of 12 years of experience in a national law firm or in-house legal department, primarily handling compliance or investigation matters. The ideal candidate will have experience working with or managing cross functional teams to develop compliance policies and processes across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Senior Compliance Counsel must not only understand the business environment and legal accountabilities but must also be able to effectively communicate potential risks to senior leaders. This person must be a self-starter and able to manage multiple matters at the same time. Some experience or exposure to regulatory environments or public policy is a must and the Counsel should have experience working with China regulatory and enforcement authorities.

Strong oral and written communication skills are critical. The confidential nature of some aspects of this work is something that should be noted.
