Role Summary/Purpose
This position will be responsible for providing Avionics System-level HIRF, Lightning and EMC technical leadership for the development of an integrated avionics system for a new civil aircraft. This position will be part of a Customer Focus Team which will provide technical leadership and serve as the primary customer interface for a large avionics systems project. This position will regularly interface with customers, partner companies, suppliers, and other senior leadership within the company.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact - Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions - Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal/external customers - Be a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities. - Provide engineering support, within one's specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives - Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company - Function as program manager when appropriate - Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers - Develop and implement training modules as necessary

Qualifications/Requirements
The candidate must have: • At least ten years of technical and/or project leadership experience in Avionics or Aircraft Systems or related Product design and development. • At least five years of experience working directly with airborne avionics systems and architectures is required. • Some experience defining requirements for and designing solutions to meet airborne HIRF, Lighting and EMC is required. • Prior experience working directly with customers to define requirements, design and develop solutions to complex aircraft problems is required. • Some working knowledge of the ARP-4754 Systems Development Process is essential as well as a familiarity of ARP 4761 – Guidelines and Methods for Conducting Safety Assessments. • Some prior experience in designing and testing avionics systems for commercial aircraft platforms by demonstrating compliance to FAR Part 25. 1309,1316, 1317, 1353, utilizing applicable Advisory Circulars, SAE documents, and other industry guidance material. • Have working knowledge of developing certification strategies with authorities utilizing appropriate guidance material for making determination on specific requirements that avionics equipment must be designed and tested. • Have a working knowledge of DO-160 and developing test plans, conducting test, and preparing certification reports. • Have a working knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements definition, validation, integration, certification, safety analysis, and verification. Highly desired skills include: • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems • Demonstrated leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel. Including International Travel May require a multi-month assignment in the US or UK.
