Role Summary/Purpose
The Systems Airworthiness & Certification Engineer demonstrates leadership in avionics systems development and certification of products for GE Aviation Systems. The Systems Airworthiness and Certification Engineer will perform certification work within the area of specialty to ensure engineering compliance to applicable FAA/EASA regulations. This position is in support of GE/AVIC Joint Venture C919 program.
Essential Responsibilities
The Systems Airworthiness & Certification Engineer is responsible for providing guidance to ensure that: 1,External standards (FAA, EASA, CAAC regulations) are met 2,Industry practices such as ARP 4754, DO-297, FAA Advisory Material AC20-170, AC20-174 and 3,Internal GE Engineering Development procedures are followed Systems developed by GE Aviation are the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle These primary responsibilities are supported by and fulfilled through the following tasks and responsibilities: •Work with the customer and the GE Product groups to ensure that T0, T1, and T2 certification requirements are within the program scope •Provide guidance on certification regulations to the internal and external customers •Work with the Product groups to ensure that the avionics system complies with applicable regulations and associated guidance material •Write Certification Plans for the product in specific area of expertise •Provide interpretation of regulatory material to the customer and program staff •Establish and maintain relationship with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being achieved •Provide certification training to internal/external customers •Interface with, and provide support to, regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and supplier representatives. •Serve as domain expert for DO-178B, DO-254, ARP 4754 Engineering standards
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution • At least 10 years of experience in an aerospace systems development environment • Strong personal code of ethics and high levels of integrity • DER or other professional certifications • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • PC proficiency • Extensive background in aerospace electronics / avionics engineering and development • An understanding of CAAC / FAA / EASA aircraft and systems certification processes (TC, STC, PMA, TSO, etc.) • Working knowledge of DO-178B, DO-254, and ARP 4754 • Experience working with Regulatory Agencies such as CAAC, FAA, EASA, etc. • Understanding of aircraft Safety process
