Role Summary/Purpose

The Senior Industrial Designer works within global, cross-functional product development teams to create compelling and meaningful user experiences. Creatively Optimizing the design of hardware, to increase desirability & usability by applying deep domain expertise in Industrial design theory and techniques, and an awareness of user needs derived through observational research. Setting future directions by generating advanced concepts for the Healthcare businesses.

Essential Responsibilities

Must be able to Lead the evolution of the brands design language, creating designs with a strong sense of character, combining a strong sensitivity to form & proportions with Empathy towards the users. Applying the results of user research toward conceptualizing and generating intuitive and functional solutions for medical device hardware, environments and Ecosystems. Representative components include system enclosures, controls & displays, and patient positioning systems. Representative Deliverables include sketches, 2-D and 3-D rendering to professionally communicate a clear design story.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor degree with concentration in Industrial Design or equivalent Industrial/Product Design degree. 8 years progressive experience as an industrial designer. Track record of delivering 2-D / 3-D concepts and CAD deliverables that strongly demonstrate both technical competency and strong creative direction of aesthetics and empathy. Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and work within a structured process. Strong communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and creative problem solving skills. Strong level of self-motivation and ability to work independently. Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%, including overnight stays. Expert in the use of visual design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop) and 3-D CAD applications such as Rhino or Pro/E and rendering software such as Maxwell or KeyShot

Desired Characteristics

Graduate degree in Fine Arts with concentration in Industrial Design or product design equivalent. Fluent spoken languages of mandarin & English Track record of generating intellectual property. Experience working within the consumer electronics and healthcare/medical devices sectors. Experience working within global, cross-functional teams. Track record of developing and executing user experiences, which have been realized and launched into market successfully. Portfolio demonstrating successful examples of conceptual designs, form and color studies, prototypes, and final commercialized products.
