Active Network is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Quality to lead test efforts for Active’s internet product suite. This role requires close management of a QA team in Xian, China, working with QA and Dev staff in Xian and North America. This individual must possess broad, hands-on industry experience in the software quality testing space, while being able to lead, motivate, and train QA staff on proper testing techniques. This role requires a strong manager who possesses deep technical expertise in the QA space. The role requires an individual who is able to evaluate inconsistent practices, recommend a solution, implement it, and monitor the results. Strong management ability is a key component of this role, and the ability to hire, evaluate, and mentor QA staff is essential.
Specific Responsibilities:
? Closely manage project test efforts, including forecasting the required effort to complete testing.
? Direct project testing progress, and report on any problems in reaching the required level of predictability.
? Hire, train and mentor QA staff.
? Evaluate team situations where best practices are not being followed, and resolve those inefficiencies.
? Participate as a key stakeholder in efforts to implement an efficient repeatable QA process across the company.
? Actively participate in QA manager-level discussions regarding improving the SDLC in use at Active.
? Work with teams inside and outside of QA to assist with improving process maturity.
? Participate in efforts to standardize the QA tool set at Active, including defect tracking, test case management, resource and dependency tracking, etc.
? Interface with all stakeholders to ensure ongoing satisfaction with QA team deliverables.
? Report on team progress in a clear, concise manner.
? Participate as a member of the senior QA management staff.
Skills & Qualifications:
? Strong oral and written English language skills.
? Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
? 3-5 years as a manager of an internet software QA team for a North American internet software firm.
? 7-10 years of experience as a QA engineer, with at least 4 of those years testing internet software products.
? Experience with a broad set of testing and analysis tools.
? Demonstrated ability to define and implement a test strategy that encompasses resources, cost, maturity, and time.
? Strong interpersonal skills.
? Ability to speak with authority to management staff and individual contributors at all levels.
