Engineering Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Manages and directs activities related to the development of standards and methods, product sampling, quality system management and product inspection on a global basis. Responsible for the process engineering, sample creation, machine file generation and quality assurance functions for the Company worldwide. Ensures the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and process metrics related to sampling and production of products to achieve product cost targets, optimize machine, material and labor utilization and ensure product integrity. Identifies and resolves manufacturing and technical issues, working toward continuous process improvement. Establishes and documents standard routings, production rates, standard operating procedures, equipment and tools, machine settings and quality procedures and inspection methods. Works closely with Product Engineering to ensure appropriate inputs to generate accurate Bills of Material and Bills of Operation. Responsible for sampling, process iteration and scale up trials for commercialization based on coordinated hand-off by New Product and Process Engineering team. Establishes proper build methods for newly commercialized product.

1. Assesses materials and material usage, equipment and processes for the production of Company products. Establishes and documents routings, process standards, standard operating procedures and quality tolerances.
2. Manages activities related to creation of standard operating procedures, establishment of production rates, machine settings, production and monitoring of product samples to ensure compliance to performance criteria, process auditing, product testing and quality inspection and auditing.
3. Monitors and audits process conditions and manufacturing performance worldwide at Company locations and subcontractor facilities to ensure consistency of process, adherence to standards and conformance to cost and quality expectations.
4. Determines Company’s manufacturing capabilities and on a global basis. Works in coordination with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to develop plans and recommendations regarding equipment and other resource requirements needed to meet organizational objectives related to the production of Company products.
5. Works with New Product and Process Development group to evaluate and recommend equipment and materials to use in the manufacture of company products. Justifies capital requests, including equipment expenditures and facility improvements. Plans and executes capital improvements projects, machinery installation and facility configuration or improvements.
6. Works with New Product and Process Development groups to run commercialization trials to establish and document routings, process standards, standard operating procedures and quality tolerances for new products or processes. Monitors process conditions and manufacturing performance and executes the transition of new products, processes and procedures through the commercialization phase to the manufacturing floor and documentation of methods to be used by Product Engineering.
7. Establishes quality procedures and tolerances for all manufacturing operations. Interfaces with manufacturing management to resolve quality issues or problems. Evaluates customer complaints and returns, implementing improvements in process standards or standard operating procedures as needed.
8. Directs production sampling activities of the company on a worldwide basis. Monitors performance of product samples in sample phase to ensure compliance to set standards of performance.
9. Assesses safety and environmental issues related to processes, procedures, equipment and materials.
10. Establishes training guidelines and assists manufacturing in training personnel in new and existing manufacturing procedures and processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises professionals and their reports, providing engineering, technical and quality guidance and leadership. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in the interviewing and selection process as well as discipline and performance appraisal processes and designing/delivering employee technical training. Interfaces with a broad range of internal and external customers to provide support. Works closely with the senior management of the Company.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with and a minimum of at least 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in Project Management and Quality System Management is required. Technical experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: textiles, printing, coating, film. Engineering experience in a small discreet batch manufacturing environment making custom designed product with short lead time requirements is preferred.
Individual must be competent in the use of computerized planning, routing and Bill of Materials systems and office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database programs, and Outlook).
Key successful competency for this position:
1. Excellent English skills, report to foreigner
2. Hand on experience on IE and BOM build up. Lean manufacturing experience will be preferred.
3. Textile and garment industry will be highly preferred.
4. Good communication and leadership.
