Job Overview:

ATMI is seeking an energetic Chemical Process Engineer who is responsible for working with OEM and end users to design, install and commission process tool sets which include wet bench etching system, precious metal plating, acid recovery and waste water treatment tools. Will also provide day-to-day oversight of ATMI’s process technology at ATMI’s client sites, located in China and will include planning, organizing, process monitoring, and controlling daily operations of ATMI’s eVOLV technology. Responsible for the project management and input to engineering design for parallel, batch processes. Maintain and continuously improve process performance and efficiency targets for the process line(s) and oversight of process monitoring (analytical testing of process chemistries).

This position is the “The Face of ATMI” and presents a very exciting opportunity for someone to join an exceptionally talented team with aggressive goals and the determination to succeed. The ideal candidate will have an extensive understanding of chemical process design and operations as well as project schedules for front end engineering design (FEED), equipment installation, commissioning and qualification.

Primary Responsibilities

Help to design and install process equipment set. After process start up, over-see the day-to-day operation of the processing plant. Successful candidate will be responsible for the control of planned outputs, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness and customer service.

• Work with OEM and ATMI customers to design, source, install and commission proprietary process equipment set.
• Work with OEM to create basic engineering and detailed engineering packages for various projects.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining various project plans for meeting project milestones (schedule and budget)
• Monitor production and deal with problems
• Drive continuous improvements to process and equipment design.
• Manage ATMI’s trade secrets relating to recycling of process chemistry, etc.
• Work closely with quality control and health and safety managers
• Presents monthly reports on performance as requested by the business leader
• Manages relations with licensee and solves any performance issues that may arise at each site
• Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the corporation in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
• Maintains appropriate communications within area of responsibility.
• Ability to travel 10%.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will typically have the following skill set:

• B.S., Chemical (Process) Engineering, MS preferred.
• Six Sigma/SPC experience preferred.
• Must be proficient in both English and Chinese/Mandarin (oral and written).
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an engineering design and or manufacturing company, with the responsibilities for project management, design and operation of chemical processes, production control, and engineering, as well as wet chemical process oversight.
• Experience with electro-winning, electroplating, chemical etching a plus.
• Experience with diffusion dialysis and distillation for acid purification a plus.
• Proven ability to work with cross functional and diverse teams in fast pace settings.
• Analytical method knowledge, specifically ICP UV-Vis, etc. preferred.
• Skill sets in project management (Gant charts, resource planning, managing design and construction schedules, etc.)Ability to specify chemical process equipment (chemical tanks, pumps, scrubbers, etc.)
• Experience with developing process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID) and mass and energy balance.
• Experience with process simulation software (Aspen Batch Process Developer, Aspen Plus, etc.) a plus.
