Main purpose:
Manages and directs research and development activities concerned with the chemical, biological and/or physical nature of food, in areas including: cost reduction, process improvements, line extensions, and new product/process development and commercialization to support the achievement of business strategies and goals.
Key responsibilities:
1. Lead the China Innovation Center function
1) Represent R&D on management discussions, PLC & stage gate so projects initiated are profitable, challenging, and rewarding to team.
2) Deliver projects with active participation in most. Ensure projects are properly resourced, organized, and on track. Train and guide team in projects. Team members are able to manage projects independently
3) Build the China Innovation Center Team. Ensure the team has the right skills, capabilities, and tools & processes to be successful in delivering projects. Team assessment, gap analysis, action plan.
4) Efficiently and effectively manage all International R&D activities
2. Manages and conducts multiple, independent and complex research projects, typically of significant impact to the organization, requiring considerable resources (people, time, money, etc.) and involving complicated/numerous concepts (i.e. "key" customer projects, accelerated shelf-life studies, new products, etc.) Interfaces regularly with various internal departments and customers in accomplishing project milestones.
3. Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems by applying advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience.
4. Manages the ordering materials for producing and evaluating prototypes, including selection and evaluation of raw materials from approved list of vendors.
5. Lead the team to maintain accurate, up-to-date records, laboratory notebooks and formula/spec database.
6. Leads, trains and mentors scientists and technicians
7. Designs and conducts storage studies, including product and package performance under various conditions
8. Sets-up, operates and maintains pilot lab and research lab equipment
9. Works with outside labs, universities, ingredient suppliers and equipment vendors as needed by project activity.
10. Performs other related responsibilities, as needed, to support company's business objectives.
Key Requirements:
1. PH.D, majored in Food science and related fields with 5-year experience in supervisory position in Innovation or R &D area.
2. Good administrative ability & coordinative ability.
3. Be familiar with the Innovation or R&D management with the chemical, biological and/or physical nature of food Industry.
4. Understand vegetable oil processing and/or quality management is preferred,.
5. Good communication skill
6. Fluent in English.
7. High in leadership.
