This will require a high degree of analytical capability to optimize the complex balance between customer expectations, inventory, capacity, lead-time, lot-size and other supply chain factors. You will accomplish this by understanding the specific needs and dynamics of the supply chain, the customers’ requirements, and product level attributes. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on inventory and WIP and work with Fab, Probe, Assembly, Test, and Module areas to enable efficient use of capacity. You will communicate with the Demand Management teams to address areas where the supply may be adjusted to better satisfy demand. You may also work with Marketing, Sales, Product Engineering, QA, and Operations to enable new product introduction (NPI).
Role Responsibilities & Tasks
Validate the Demand Signal
Validate that the demand signal is consistent with Demand Management input
Validate supply response to demand signal in time phase buckets
Recognize changes in the demand signal from week to week
For NPI, collect demand signal from Engineering and Marketing and input into the system
Validate customer requirements and priorities with Sales and Marketing to ensure proper customer prioritization
Build plan based on determinations
Escalate issues based on inability to meet demand
Monitor, apply judgment and react to inventory, backorder and service levels of purchased raw and manufactured finished goods to achieve customer service and business objectives
Support new product launches / product discontinuance programs
Create a Manufacturing Plan and Statement of Supply
Optimize the manufacturing plan by consolidating input from manufacturing departments regarding current constraints (supply, materials, staffing, and quality)
Review overall constraints based on all the department inputs and collaborate with cross functional teams to determine wants versus needs, resolve conflicts and identify any trade-off necessary
Identify decision points at each step to satisfy the demand request
Evaluate department business rules as they apply to constraints
Update supply picture based on constraints
Make decisions to change manufacturing plan based on trade-off priorities
Apply yield and cycle times to manufacturing steps
Perform calculations within manufacturing plan spreadsheets
Clarify input information with department planners
Provide alternative solutions to Demand Management regarding demand and capacity conflicts
Provide data analysis support
Provide pre-warning communication to Demand Management regarding changes in supply
Communicate build issues to Demand Management or Manufacturing
Create and maintain SAP-APO for appropriate supply response to demand requirements
Manage Inventory
Evaluate inventory at all levels and determine if batch part attributes meet projected customer requirements
Determine required changes in the manufacturing plan based on bottlenecks
Evaluate changes to determine cause and long term effect
Evaluate Finished Goods inventory
Execute business rules of different departments across the company
Determine alternative solutions to satisfy current build
Alter wafer start profile based on changes in demand and/or supply
Determine changes to the manufacturing plan
Enforce decisions based on the manufacturing plan
Evaluate current inventory of banks and take appropriate action when banks are over or under target
Determine bank needs based on history, forecast, business rules, etc.
Work with Purchasing groups to ensure materials safety stock is available
Manage inventory levels based on quality variations and static inventory
Manage safety stock to reduce risk of going over or under the build plan, and support the ability to make changes to the plan
Work with Demand Management teams to address increasing bank levels tied to demand shortage
