We invite you to join the Shenmu City Xijiao Kangqiao Experimental School as a full-time English teacher. Part of your job duties is be part of the"Magic English Club" experimental project. The role will be of avalued member of a team that is working to improve the lives of underprivileged children. You will be teaching an eager group of children and giving them anopportunity that their family has never had before.

About the school:

Shenmu City Xijiao Kangqiao Experimental School is a pilot school for experimental education. It teaches online and in-person. The school will soon introduce amaker space, STEAM education, nature and environmental ecology classes, filmand TV production, drama, field trips, interdisciplinary education, sports development, traditional Chinese culture classes and more in the Fall semester.As a former rural school, half of our students come from low-income, and under privileged families. They have suffered from a lack of access to good educational resources until recently. With strong support from the community and the government, we have upgraded from a village school to an urban management school that was recently renovated in 2018. The school covers anarea of 7.9 acres. The buildings take up 26,000 square meters, and it has a 16,000 square meter playground and sports area. The school has spacious architecture, many single-purpose rooms, and advanced teaching facilities.There are 24 classes of students 6 junior level and 18 primary, with a studybody of 1,168 students and faculty of 79 members.

About the Magic English Club:

Xijiao Kangqiao Experimental School has different clubs that their students can join. The Magic English program is an experimental program taught by international and domestic English teachers. The mission of the Magic English is to cultivate excellent spoken English, cooperation, and to foster a spirit of continual learning. Learning English is not just academic pursuit, but a practical one! Learning English is not just for passing tests, but for a broader horizon! So far, we have successful trained our first round and are ready to continue. The club was so well received that more students want to join, so weneed to expand our staff. In the first class, children wrote poems and performed in the school's first ever English language presentation andperformance.

About your new home:

Shenmu City Xijiao Kangqiao Experimental School is in Shenmu City in the Shaanxi Province. Shaanxi is considered one of the cradles of Chinesecivilization. Founded over 4,000 years ago, it was the seat of power for most of Chinese’s ancient history. Shenmu borders Inner Mongoliato the north and Yellow River to the south.Shenmu City is full of culture, but it is also one of the top 100 county-level cities in the country and is currently experiencing rapid development. Since 2009, Shenmu City has been the only area in China that has free medical care for all it's residents. In addition, all public schools in Shenmu provide students with free education and meals.

English Teacher Job Duties:

• Manages and educates students in a classroom environment
• Develops and implements fascinating lessons that stimulate our students'imagination

 Formal requirements:

• One year full-time commitment
• A bachelor's degree or higher in any subject(Education is preferred)
• TEFL/CELTA certificate (if hired, we will help youobtain these, but certification is preferred)
• Non-criminal record

Compensation/ Salary:

16-18K (RMB) base salarywith performance bonuses up to 25K.

Food:

The school cafeteria provides free meals four times every weekday made with fresh, healthy ingredients. We offer healthy and delicious traditional Chinese food at thecafeteria, but we will occasionally provide you "foreign" food like pizza, sandwich, etc. for when you get homesick. And of course coffee! Our staff will also work with you if you have any special dietary requirements.

Flight allowance:

One round-trip flight home per year.
