Responsibilities:
Leads the identification and evaluation of viable new technologies and companies for existing or future solutions (horizontal, vertical business opportunities) by:
? Scouting for new external partners in all relevant industries (start-ups and large corporations)
? Partnering with internal product development and R&D departments to identify external business and technology needs
? Support in building long-term relationships (worldwide through all AE scouting hubs) with external start-ups/companies/suppliers/universities that are likely to develop technology solutions in specializa-tion/areas of interest
? Establishing in-depth knowledge of the capabilities and culture of an identified set of key partners. Align their capabilities with the needs of Company and of BU
? Promoting and selling potential partners/ideas/technologies to a wide-range of internal stakeholders
? Serving as the key technology expert for technical evaluations and bridging with internally with stake-holders on all levels
? Transferring new technologies to internal stakeholders with the objective of commercializing new tech-nologies quickly
? Conducting and/or leading the assessment of novel technologies/solutions (technical due diligence)
? Documenting findings from scouting activities and effectively sharing with peers as well as facilitating future re-use (knowledge management)
? R&D support if needed
? Contribute and support development of regional semiconductor business strategy by evaluating scouting and market insights

Skills:
? Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is a must
? Knowledge of the requirements differentiating automotive electronics from consumer electronics is a plus
? Knowledge of Chinese high-tech industry and Start-up ecosystem
? Knowledge of the national semiconductor ecosystem incl. government, associations, universities etc. is a plus
? Excellent project management and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
? Ability to communicate effectively with peers through regular reporting, publication, and presentations (oral, written and listening in Chinese and English, German is a plus)
? Willingness to travel to guarantee successful adoption of your projects into the product development chain or business processes
? Willingness to remain engaged in a project long after the technical feasibility has been proven
? Vision for future technology trends and their impact on the automotive and semiconductor industries
? High level of creativity and strategic thinking is a plus.
? Proven capability to collaborate and influence others to build relationships and networks across different functions and department areas

Qualifications:
? M.S. or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science
? 7+ years of semiconductor industry experience with a working knowledge of automotive technologies
? Technical expertise in one of those technology fields is mandatory: electronics, semiconductors, sensors
? Working experience with international teams and / or involvement with a top-tier company
