职位描述

Duties

To manage the following areas ensuring that suitable staffing levels are maintained and that directly responsible staff are correctly chosen, properly trained and maintain a suitable level of discipline.


1) Applications Engineering

1. Testing and reporting on established applications.

2. Preparation of sample moldings for testing.

3. Advising customers on the installation and use of fasteners.

4. Choice and specification of fasteners for new applications.

5. Collecting data to enable new fasteners to be designed to suit customers’ special requirements.

6. Liaison with customers on new and ongoing specifications traveling to customers location where required.

7. Liaison with Sales Personnel throughout the region traveling to customers location where required.

8. Providing technical back-up to sales where required.

9. Trouble shooting customers applications excluding fastener quality related problems.

10. Presenting PSM and its products to customers in-house and at customers’ premises.

11. Preparing and maintaining data bases on customer projects and testing


2) Manufacturing Engineering

1. To assist Manufacturing Divisions in China and Taiwan with:

2. Drawing Preparation and Control activities

3. Tooling design area

4. Assessment of technical feasibility

5. Specification of new manufacturing equipment

6. Specification of and Training in CAD equipment and procedures


3) Records & Release

1. Drawing development & Release

2. Engineering change management

3. Part numbers & ERP code release

4. Technical date management

5. CAD date management


4) Development (R&D)

1. Development of new products to meet expressed customer needs

2. Development of new market areas (in conjunction with sales and marketing departments)

3. Design and layout of Engineering centers

4. Specification of equipment required to keep Engineering centers up to highest current standards

5. To identify and investigate new manufacturing methods (such as cold forming, die-casting etc) for newly developed and existing products.


5) Materials Engineering

1. To ensure that materials are correct to specification and "fit for purpose".

2. To carry out test programmers on new and novel materials

3. To investigate and specify heat treatment and surface coating methods and to assist manufacturing, planning and QA departments in the choice and assessment of subcontractors.

4. To assist in the specification and planning of "in house" heat treatment methods and equipment.


Responsibilities

1. To maintain the Tech Centre area to the highest levels of appearance.

2. To ensure that personnel who may have a customer-facing role concerned with technical matters maintain a smart appearance and appropriate behavior.

3. Overall management in technical information development / release / maintenance, test lab operation, new product / application development and project management, material / surface treatment & finishing, interface engineering of manufacturing.

4. To maintain close and clear liaison with Technical and Engineering divisions within the PSM International group


Qualities

The ideal candidate would fulfill the following criteria

Qualifications

Minimum - First class engineering degree with a bias towards materials science from nationally / internationally recognized university.

Preferred - Higher degree - MSC or PhD with research experience in the manufacturing and treatment of newer materials.

Experience

1. At least two years management in an R&D environment following a recognized training programmed covering all aspects of a high volume manufacturing company (preferably but not necessarily in the bar turning/cold forming industry).

2. Experience in a customer-facing environment either sales or technical liaison would be a definite advantage as would experience of Marketing and Publicity.

1. Not important but it is unlikely that anyone under the age of 35 would have had the necessary background experience

Language Skills

1. Must be able to communicate clearly and fluently in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) in both written and spoken forms.

2. Knowledge of Japanese and Hindi would be an advantage but is not essential.

Personal Qualities

1. Must have an outgoing personality with the ability to relate to colleagues within the business and to customers at all levels.

2. Must enjoy traveling and be prepared to spend a considerable proportion of time away from base.

3. Be Familiar with ISO9000, 1S014000, TS16949&HSPM
