Motivation for this request for new staff:
In order to continue and enhance the protection of the intellectual property rights of Compressor Technique in China, we are looking for an intellectual property engineer.

The IP engineer will become a member of the Product Development Support team of company, which delivers internal specialized, competence-oriented services to company Product Companies in China, for Compressor Technique BA, and Portable Energy Division in Construction Technique BA.

The IP Engineer/IP Coordinator will provide support in the area of intellectual property, focusing on coordinating and managing various aspects of the company IP policy and IP program.
Outline of tasks for the position:
Responsibilities:
1. Actively search for opportunities to protect the company knowledge and designs and make the protection happen.
2. Liaise between ‘company’ and the Intellectual Property team of company Compressor Technique located in Belgium.
3. Maintain patent portfolio of company Product Companies in China in close co-operation with and while reporting to the Intellectual Property team of company Compressor Technique in Belgium to support the ruling IP policy and strategies of company.
4. Responsible for searching, identifying, and reviewing patents relevant to our core product design areas.
5. Evaluate competitor products to understand their technology, determine if they infringe on company patents, and report.
6. Know and understand various technologies used in Compressor products (e.g. compressors, drives, air treatment devices…).
7. Develop and deliver training material related to intellectual property issues.
8. Participate regular in design reviews to assure that our design does not infringe on an existing competitor patent.
9. Work closely with engineering management and legal council of China Holding to identify any IP liability issues.
10. Support the legal council in IP issues.
11. Drive the development of IPR activities in China, in cooperation with legal council and IP team CT.
Core qualifications (diploma/education requirements) and experiences needed (essential for the positions):
Experience Requirements
1. 3 years of experience in engineering design.
2. 5+ years of experience in writing, reviewing, managing patents and conducting patentability and infringement studies.

Knowledge / Educational requirements
1. Knowledge of the Chinese Patent Law is a must.
2. Sound grasp of the main key factors of the practice of Intellectual Property Management.
3. Working knowledge of other Chinese and foreign IP-related laws, treaties and conventions is an asset.
4. Fluent in Mandarin and English.
5. Proficient in MS Office.
6. BS in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced Engineering degree is desirable (MS).
