Job Description:
Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE)
The ACE is part of the Research and Development (R&D) Team in a KA Customer Service Centre. He reports to the Global Chief Engineer for Driveline Systems.

Beside the KA-Engineering teams the main contacts are the engineering teams of our customers, KA-Key Account Managers and KA-Project Managers.

The ACE is responsible for:
Being main engineering contact to the engineering teams of our customers. (Key-Contact)
Getting full understanding of all customer needs on the product.
Lead and drive the engineering activities during the NPI phases of a project
The follow up of product performance vs. the defined targets during development projects
The integration of the product into the customer environment.
Creation of 3D-CAD models of the complete systems build of subsystems provided by the core teams (CT).
Creation of Customer / System drawings.
CAD data exchange with customers.
The overall performance of the product and the integration of systems build of subsystems developed by different CTs while having the technical decision making leadership for the whole product.
Identify resource needs to carry out projects and request allocation of these resources to CT leaders.
Early escalation when project objectives are endangered.

The collaboration between the ACE and the CTs in KA's Core Engineering Centres is based on the "Traffic rules" as rolled out in the R&D organisation during May 2011.

In addition to the general responsibilities the ACE he / she will complete the following tasks:
Establish and grow engineering contacts with customers
Identify, clarify and expand for all customer needs (gap analysis)
Discuss and describe customer strategies for future developments
Describe customer demands in RVS sheets, benchmark KA products and developments against demands and share information with CTs.
Share summary of needs with CTs as input for advanced development projects and follow up advanced developments closing needs (gaps)
Three year cycle of learning and doing. Target closing individual knowledge gaps

Qualifications:
Education - master or bachelor degree in engineering (mechanic or electronic) or adequate local degree
Work experience, preferably from automotive industry (5 years or more)
Very good knowledge of English, spoken and written. The same is valid for the local language if this is not English
Knowledge of a second or third language such as German, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean is considered an additional qualification
