BASIC PURPOSE:

To train, implement and improve the APS (Autocam Production System).

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Coordinate and deploy CI (Continuous Improvement) activities at the plant level. Assist plant management to develop appropriate continuous improvement strategies. Work closely with plant management to identify opportunities in cost reduction, product quality enhancement, and process effectiveness improvement. Train employees in the use of lean manufacturing tools and coordinate project teams to accomplish lean objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Assist plant management to develop appropriate continuous improvement strategies.

Key Measurements

• Identify priorities based on lean analysis.
• Support plant management in decision-making through an effective data gathering and interpretation from a lean perspective.
• Facilitate the development of plant and area layouts using lean concepts.

2. Train and educate employees how to fully utilize APS tools.

Key Measurements

• Develop APS training materials.
• Conduct APS workshops.
• Maintain APS homepage.

3. Facilitate continuous improvement activities with AITs (Area Improvement Team).

Key Measurements

• Assist AITs in utilizing the tools of lean manufacturing and addressing priority issues.
• Facilitate the development and use of VSMs (Value Stream Maps).
• Participate in area Kaizen activities.

4. Perform APS audits on a regular basis.

Key Measurements

• Perform 5S audit monthly
• Conduct BIC (Best In Class) assessments as required
• Document updates on APS homepage

5. Standardize and share BIC practices throughout the whole organization

Key Measurements

• Document BIC practices.
• Share the key learning experiences amongst all facilities.
• Participate in CI meetings with CICs from other plant sites.
