Responsibilities

The Head will ensure that the group works globally, and builds strong working relationship with BD team leaders. Responsibilities also include:

? Lead the Protein Sciences subgroup - Ensure delivery of proteins of the highest quality and on time to PM teams and Lead Discovery; Set and implement protein quality standards; Directly manage both in-house and collaborative protein scientists to flexibly meet changing needs.
? Provide leadership to the business and marketing group regarding to the protein science.- Ensure that protein data and expertise are provided in a timely manner consistent with BD/PM team goals and objectives.
? Build and guide the global delivery Protein Science. Recruit, mentor, and develop outstanding scientists to create a culture of scientific excellence and innovation that is well aligned with PM/BD partners.
? Build strong working relationships with leaders in all protein areas and Lead Discovery. Articulate the objectives and operating model of the group, and shape the Protein Science to best meet company objectives.
? Contribute to the strategic direction of the organization as a member of the Lead Discovery Extended Leadership Team.
? Build SynoAb antibody technology platform and related product lines and provide leadership to go-to-market strategy.
Qualifications

? Ph.D. or equivalent in protein science, biochemistry, or structural biology with at least 10 years of protein science experience in a drug discovery organization is preferred
? At least 7 years of experience as a people manager is required
? Candidate must be a recognized scientific expert in protein expression, purification, and analysis with an outstanding publication record in peer-reviewed journals
? In-depth knowledge of drug discovery biochemistry, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: enzymes, receptors, ion channels or protein-protein interaction targets is preferred
? Must have a record of success in working effectively with multiple types of research organizations, including academic institutions, contract research organizations, and public-private consortia
? Knowledge of structural biology, protein NMR, and/or computational chemistry are preferred
? Knowledge of biophysics, enzymology, and/or receptor pharmacology are preferred
? Experience in structure-based drug design and/or fragment-based lead discovery are preferred
? Familiarity with high-throughput screening is preferred
