Familarity of CAD/ Pro-E will be a priority


General Function:

Provide manufacturing based engineering support from a Flow Manufacturing perspective for both existing products currently in production and for new products as they progress from concept through development and into production.

Essential Responsibilities:

General

? Develop a thorough understanding of several production lines/manufacturing processes (each line manufacturing several product variations). The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for equipment/process based aspects of the production line/manufacturing process.


? Knowledge of Flow Manufacturing principles to design new production lines and support, troubleshoot, and improve existing production lines.


? Use Lean/Flow Manufacturing principles to support and improve manufacturing operations.


? Stay abreast of new technologies that can enhance safety and increase value of our products/processes.


? Manage defined areas of projects from concept to implementation within the agreed upon timeframe.


? Work with Maintenance Technicians so they can assist in supporting the technical end of the area(s).


? Communicate openly and frequently within the department and to other departments.




? Periodic participation in the weekly Material Review Board (MRB) as scheduled by the Engineering Manager.


? Be ready and willing to address any immediate issue as it occurs even though it may not fall directly into your assigned area(s). Be a flexible, solid team player and apply sound common sense to the issue.


Existing Production Lines


? Help facilitate a production line teamwork atmosphere by spending time on the production floor, be honest and straightforward, listen to and solicit ideas from the production employees/managers, educating/training production employees as to Flow Manufacturing principles, and aggressively working on issues that arise.


? Monitor existing equipment/processes to ensure that manufacturing related Quality criteria are met. Pro-actively address any issues that arise by working with the appropriate individuals determined by the nature of the issue.


? Monitor existing equipment/processes for improvements that can be made to increase value by applying Flow Manufacturing principles including monitoring equipment downtime and operating expenses.


? Monitor production line efficiencies for each production line, or feeder line within a production line as applicable, to show an unbiased, fact based picture of where we really are compared to actual work content. Investigate variances and apply root cause analysis as to the nature of the variance. Reporting methods and timeframe will vary depending on the production line.


? Work closely with Product Engineering to understand key features of the product and how they are controlled. Participate in troubleshooting, tolerance stack analysis, evaluation of proposed changes, evaluation of returns, etc. as it pertains to the manufacturing of the product. Ensure that the equipment/processes are capable of meeting the Product Engineering requirements.


? Work closely with Application Engineering to address customer concerns and/or to implement improvements to the existing product/process as requested by the customer. This will include understanding the need, the desired timeframe and the necessary changes required on the production floor (both documentation and physical) to facilitate the change. These changes are typically communicated through the Engineering Design Release (EDR) process.


New Production Lines


? Work closely with Design Engineering on new products in the concept stage to ensure that accurate manufacturability information is presented including ease of assembly, process capabilities, direct labor estimates, process capacity limits, etc.


? Assist the Design Engineering development endeavor with prototype production processes to evaluate both the product(s) being developed and the proposed production equipment/processes...includes being involved with the assembly of test samples as required.


? Facilitate the transition of the product into production by assisting the production manager with training support to the production employees to ensure that safety, quality and production requirements are met and sustained.


Basic Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Must hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or have an equivalent combination of schooling and work related manufacturing experience as it would apply to this position.


EXPERIENCE

Minimum of four years of related experience in related field

Position requires:

? Must be able to travel as the need arises, the need may arise for training, seminars, supplier visits, and/or customer visits

? Must be able to contribute overtime as required to complete projects in a timely manner

? Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

? Must have a working knowledge in computer sciences to operate in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Projects) and Microsoft Access

? Strong English communication required.

? Must be fluent in speaking and writing Mandarin.

? Willingness to travel 30% of the time.
