1. General
Area of responsibility:ePower Electronic System Design Engineer
Superior:Electronic Design Manager
Location: Wuxi
2. Main objectives
To support during quotation and development phases of new projects by liaising with major OEM’s and 1st tier suppliers on new projects to understand their electrical interface and specification requirements.
To be an active member of the new project introduction team being responsible for the electronic system engineering.
Work with internal or sub-contract electronics partner and software engineers / companies to ensure the timely introduction of new projects that achieve customer requirements, budget and timing.
To assist the plant production quality and process engineering departments with electronics expertise and best practise.
3. Areas of responsibility
· To design or facilitate the design of the product in terms of electronics hardware and software system architecture.
· Anchor the production feasibility of the product with production and purchase organisation.
· In alignment with Electronic Design Manager agree with project responsible regarding project scoop and requirements.
· Secure that the design meets the agreed requirements.
· Escalate deviations to Electronic Design Manager and project responsible.
· Work according to agreed processes and tools, and support continuous improvement of them.
· Report working hours spent on different projects.
· Support Test department with expertise regarding electronics testing (EMC, ESD etc.)
4. Personal tasks
· Review and negotiate customer requirements.
· Support the quotation phase including cost calculations
· Technical interface to customer for electronics.
· Customer and internal technical documentation and presentations.
· Manage the design so that the electronics integrates with the complete system and that the mechatronics design is optimised.
· PCB cost estimates and support purchase with PCB manufacturing quotes
· Building and testing demonstration prototypes.
· Manage and prioritise the electronics open issues.
· Manage the internal hardware and software engineers or development partner.
· Work with the project team to follow the New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
· Proactively work with the production plant to ensure design for manufacture and quality.
· Work on the PCB and System EOL test specifications including EMC test plan.
· Manage the validation of the complete KA system to the electrical and environmental requirements.
5. Main challenges
· To create robust, cost effective and quality assured technical solutions.
· To continuously gain knowledge within the areas of responsibilities; products, processes and tools, and too stay updated regarding best practices within appropriate technology fields.
· To support and encourage the compliance to company quality standards and other quality requirements.
6. Important external contacts
Customers:
To support the Customer Focus Teams in their dialogue with customers.
Suppliers of parts and services:
To have a good relation with suppliers to be able to utilise their knowledge and achieve an efficient cooperation.
Institutions:
When required contact with universities regarding research and development projects, thesis work and other collaborations.When required contact with research institutes and other associations within R&D.
7. Competence profile (ideal)
Education:
University degree, master or bachelor, in Electronics engineering or equivalent.
Experience and skills:
Extensive experience of electronics design, specification, integration and validation gained within a Tier 1 supplier.Knowledge of designing and testing for EMC.Automotive APQP experience.Practical electronics skills (Oscilloscope, soldering, building prototypes).Knowledge of Embedded software and quality assurance processes. Ability to make quick decisions based on experience and analysis as well as advice from other people.Ability to get on with other people.To be concise in written and verbal communication in English.Ability to build and develop customer relationships.Valid driving licence and passport.Knowledge and experience in System Design for electronicsIn addition to a solid theoretical knowledge also show applied skills in technology.Knowledge from HW-design and SW-design materials are qualifying.Team player with a strong drive and a positive attitude. Able to work in a structured way, both independently and in a team.Committed, self starting, taking responsibility, high focus and interest to improve the day-to-day work.Solution and result driven approach.Experience from electronics design, preferably from the automotive industry, is desired.Experience from ISO 16750, IEC 61508, MISRA, Autosar and ISO 26262 or similar is also valuable.
