Key Responsibilities:
? drive the health, safety and environmental programs within the laboratory (lab) through implementation, maintenance and enforcement, and by setting a good example by earnestly using the tools and programs provided
? fully support the company’s quality programs to secure rtm’s position as the supplier of choice
? help the company develop people by actively mentoring and training the research associates that you manage to deliver the best possible performance and to continuously improve their capabilities
? participates in rtm technical meetings and assists with completion of deliverables on time
? participate in the writing of brochures, web pages, technical data sheets, MSDS or other collateral
? perform value-in-use and value proposition calculations for rtm products and prioritize customers’ needs. provide market intelligence and characterize technology and market trends for identifying R&D and marketing opportunities
? work with key and target customers in qualifying rtm products, processes and / or innovation changes, including technologies that can mitigate the impact of borates on air and water, and provide respected technical consultancy to these customers to differentiate rtm from its competitors
? drive research activities in rtm internal labs and with universities, national labs, customers and associations
? provide effective and timely basic technical support to customers at large as well to sales and other internal departments to address customers’ queries and / or issues
? engage in external forums (e.g. present at conferences and write journal articles) to help enhance rtm’s reputation as a solutions provider, innovator and supplier of choice
Key Requirements:
? specific academic or professional qualifications and/or licenses/training necessary for this position (differentiate between essential and desirable). explain why these are required and how they contribute to the jobholder’s effectiveness in the role
? college/university education: an advanced degree in chemistry; overseas phd is preferred
? other qualifications: minimum seven years of work experience is essential (an advanced degree may count for up to three years)
? knowledge of inorganic chemistry and analytical chemistry is a base requirement for performing day to day duties
? interpersonal skill is required to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers
? training and team building skill is necessary to ensure that teams functions with common purpose
? leadership skill is required to create collaborative enterprises, to optimize resources, and to manage and motivate internal research associates
? self-motivation is necessary to progresses projects with minimal supervision
? affinity for learning is required to develop knowledge of borates, internal processes and systems, and to keep abreast of markets and technology developments
? analytical and statistical skill is necessary to evaluate data from technical reports and designed experiments
? planning/organization skill is necessary to coordinate activities and ensure timely completion of projects
? delegation skill is necessary to direct and assign work for innovations and development
? language skill in English and mandarin is required
? writing skill is required to prepare plans and internal documents and to prepare journal articles
? presentation skill is necessary to project the value-in-use, value proposition and results to internal and external stakeholders
? computer skill is required to manage information and for communication
? administrative skill is necessary to document data and activities, prepare forecasts and budgets, monitor expenses and perform performance reviews of employees
