The Role
New for 2016, Merlin Entertainments brings one of their most popular attraction brands to the heart of China, with the opening of Madame Tussauds Chongqing. Following this in early 2017 we will be expanding the site to open a new SEA LIFE centre.
We are now looking for an experienced Finance Manager to be an integral member of the attractions Management Team. Managing all day-to-day financial aspects of setting up, establishing and running the new attraction you will deliver senior level management reporting to our UK Head Office, ensuring full audit compliance through control of financial & legal reporting and implementation of procedures. You will also analyse performance levels and put in place solutions to improve revenue streams and profit conversion for the attractions.
? In association with the General Manager, manage the team to gain full commitment to and actively contribute to the agreed strategic direction of the finance department and the attraction.
? Daily responsibility to manage 2 salaried staff.
? Monthly Reporting
? Ensure that all daily revenue reports are distributed
? Work as a team to produce the monthly internal and corporate management accounts for each entity with submission to Head Office according to the reporting timetable.
? Produce the monthly business review documents and Financial commentary for each attraction.
? Provide the General Manager with updates of capital spend vs. budget and update the capital forecast on a monthly basis.
? Provide a full year depreciation forecast for inclusion in the monthly profit and loss forecast
? Manage the attractions Cash Office, ensuring they are adequately staffed.
? Ensure that all balance sheet control accounts are completed on a monthly basis, approved and appropriately filed. Work to reconcile cash/credit card control accounts on a weekly basis.
? Ensure that all intercompany accounts are reconciled and that all exchange differences are correctly accounted for.
? Ensure that all accounting modules are turned to the new period on a timely basis and that all monthly reports are filed.
? Produce the balance sheet budget for inclusion in the corporate budget packs
? On a continuous basis, review, update and maintain effective and efficient financial controls, and procedures.
The Person
Highly motivated, with a degree within professional accounting qualification will be essential. You’ll also need an in-depth understanding of local Fiscal procedures and regulations. You must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, as well as the energy and dedication to bring continued success to this key attraction.
? Experience of financial reporting (5 – 10 years)
? Ability to produce monthly forecasts
? Experience writing and managing budgets
? Experience of cost control in a similar size business (£3million - £10million turnover)
? Knowledge of local financial, fiscal and legal legislation
? People management (1 or more direct reports)
? Experience managing multiple priorities
? Experience in deadline driven environment
? Self-starter
? Solutions focussed
? Computer skills a must, advanced excel skills required including knowledge of macros and proficiency in MS Word.
? Must have strong understanding of Account/Bank Reconciliation, Fixed Assets, Health and Welfare Programs and payroll.
? Possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and motivational skills.
? Have a flexible approach and a proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi task as necessary to meet a deadline.
? Ability to work with all levels of staff and guests.
? Fluent in verbal and written English.
