The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to complete complex tasks on schedule while delivering quality output with a minimum amount of supervision. The ability to function well in a fast-paced, technically challenging, multi-disciplinary environment is a must. A demonstrated ability in moving tasks through concept to design to successful implementation is required as is the ability to document procedures and methods.
The candidate will be expected to take a technical leadership role by guiding system development activities, developing specifications and test plans, analyzing and interpreting data, and guiding troubleshooting efforts. They will also be expected to lead engagement with customers and field service, coordinate cross-functional development activity, and report team progress to management. The demonstrated ability to work with suppliers to define specifications and to troubleshoot issues is required.

Position Requirements:
? M.S. or Ph.D. in the field of Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of work experience is preferred.
? Demonstrated excellence in a technical leadership role.
? Knowledge of optics, electro-optics, and lasers.
? Experience with controls theory and servo system design.
? Experience with MATLAB or equivalent mathematical analysis package.
? Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc).
? Experience documenting requirements and creating system validation test plans.
? Some experience with programming languages and environments is preferred.
? Ability to effectively interface with customers and field service personnel.
? Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong technical problem solving skills.
? Ability to travel to customer sites, sometimes on short notice.
