Based at Ricardo Shanghai Technical Centre in the China, primarily you will support the Vehicle Systems (VS) Product Group in the proposal and project delivery activities. Your everyday tasks will include the provision of technical support in proposal preparation and development, and project delivery. You will be comfortable in meeting new customers and developing relationships, working closely with commercial and sector leaders, and operating within the Global Product Group team to win and deliver new business. Accountability / Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities in the role are broadly split into three areas;
? Generating New Business
o Supporting technical discussions in customer sales meetings and responses to RFQs
o Proposal preparation either alone or in team situations (documentation, plans, costing, commercial package)
o Developing and maintaining client network and relationships with key client staff relevant to your position
o Responding to customer requests for information or discussion documents
o Following Ricardo internal processes
o Understanding of market trends in your sector e.g., legislation, vehicle performance, R&D needs, customer behavior, customer product range
? Delivering Current Business
o Taking lead on some projects and portions of larger projects where appropriate
o Leading/Supporting delivery of China projects with delivery teams located in multiple regions
o Understanding status of all global VS projects active with China customers
o Maintaining appropriate communication with customers on current projects
? Improvement Activity and Facility
o Deliver assigned improvement projects (generic proposal, legislation links, market data)
o Support Shanghai facility as and when required (e.g., definition of equipment needs, technical support for test work queries if required, understanding of future equipment to meet legislation or market demands).
Personal Profile
? Outgoing and friendly personality is critical
? Network of customers or contacts in China automotive industry is highly desired
? Degree qualified engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ industry experience with strong technical background in vehicle underbody systems (could be in Chassis, Powertrain Systems, Vehicle Integration, etc.)
? Demonstrable experience in selling technical solutions in China is required
? Expertise in vehicle attribute development (NVH, Thermal, Package, Ride Handling) is highly desirable
? A track record of product development within the automotive industry, ideally to volume production
? Capable of representing Ricardo in your field of expertise in a range of customer situations
? Proven interpersonal and communication skills
? An ability to independently work within multi-disciplined teams
? High degree of flexibility and willingness to travel internationally as well as within China
? Robust character with a strong drive and motivation to succeed
? Great patience in dealing with client and team situations coupled with an ability to accept and positively respond to frequent changes
? An ability to work under pressure and tight timescales
? An appreciation of and an ability to positively resolve issues arising from different cultures
? Proven leadership in a team environment

? Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese are required
