Role overview:
This role offers an exciting mix of responsibilities in the field of vehicle key components design, design expertise and design leading activities.
The role encompasses the following responsibilities:
? Provide expertise to all Ricardo Shanghai staff on CAD related issues such as when to do a dimension stackup and know main design rules of vehicle parts
? Give advice on design improvement for cost and process optimization
? Represent Ricardo Shanghai in all vehicle CAD related discussions within Ricardo World
? Survey evolutions of CAD good practice and standards with Ricardo World vehicle CAD teams
? Coach and check work quality of China based CAD engineers
? Provide expertise guidance to customer’s supplier for cost and process optimization
? Work on complex CAD issues and write concept design reports and CAD design reports
? Produce CAD 3D and 2D detailed drawing and related dimension stack up
The Role:
Develop within Ricardo Shanghai vehicle CAD skills.
? Work with a team of engineers on complex vehicle design / could be from blank page to industrialization
? Provide strong expertise on design in a lead designer roles in order plan several components design in parallel, give guidance to other engineers, run regular reviews to ensure Cost / Quality / Performance and Delays criteria are met
? Work in interaction with customer to provide design expertise and especially understand how to optimize the process to reach Cost / Quality / Performance targets
? Setup a network of partners within Ricardo world CAD teams in order to be up to date with standards, CAD needs, and get or bring support from those


The ideal candidate:
? Strong experience in the field of vehicle design (chassis, engine integration, drive line, in/ex line, suspension, steering, interior)
? Strong expertise in the field of manufacturing, especially definition of stamped and machined parts
? Able to optimize CAD impact on process and cost
? Able to guide a supplier to achieve one’s CAD
? Full understanding of vehicle working and component roles
? Open minded and result oriented
? Willing to work on technical issues in B2B environment
? Influential and articulate in both written and oral communication Chinese / English
? Willing to travel and comfortable working across a range of cultures

Qualifications:
? BS or MS in automotive engineering with major in vehicle design
? 8+ years of work experience in vehicle CAD
