LOCAL UNIT & POSITION DESCRIPTION:

To lead DNV GL’s China Offshore Wind Team and support with developing offshore wind business in the China region. Share your expertise in a focused learning program with new and experienced team members based in Asia to enable the region to build local capability for future success.

Key roles will include: executing engineering studies, design work, specifications and due diligence work on behalf of clients for offshore wind projects. Other roles include team development/coordination and supporting business development activities. Working cross-border with the European offshore wind teams will be an important and daily activity.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate should be Senior Engineer level with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a relevant field. This should ideally be offshore wind specifically or offshore engineering or wind energy.
The candidate should be fluent in mandarin and possess a high proficiency in English. This will be essential for communicating and working with DNV GL’s European teams.

? Feasibility and front-end engineering addressing:

? Offshore installation (WTG, structures, cable)

? Wind resource and energy assessment
? Engineering support pre-construction and through design, fabrication and construction for clients / main contractors:
? Preparation of Design Basis and Specifications
? Equipment review and specification
? Tender review
? Design review
? Construction monitoring
? Support structure (WTG and OHVS) detailed design
? Due diligence for investors and lenders
? Training courses run for external clients
? Technical responsibility for project work such as described above;
? Technical presentations to clients;

Commercial elements
? Tendering for project work for clients covering the full range of activities performed by the Offshore Team as detailed below.
? Support for business development activities
? Maintain Asia’s offshore opportunity pipeline / CRM system
? Reporting responsibility for project work

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required to perform the job.

To successfully undertake this role you need to:
? Be qualified to university degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline;
? Possess excellent project management, communication and problem solving skills and experience;
? Ideally have some knowledge of the offshore wind business, particularly as may be applied to China and Asia region;
? Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in offshore wind or offshore engineering or wind energy or a combination. Experience with China wind industry is preferred;
? Be able to understand, interpret and prepare technical reports both in English and Chinese.
? Fluent in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking) is essential;
? High proficiency in English;
? Have well developed IT skills;
? Experience of designing and delivering presentations to a high standard.
? Have a demonstrated aptitude in training and developing others.
? Have a spirit of adventure

TRAVEL
The individual will be based in Shanghai and will be required to visit other DNV GL sites primarily those where offshore work is most active. Regular travel around the China mainland is likely for Client meetings and business development activities.
International travel will be required occasionally for meetings and conferences.
