Objectives of the position
The SIU Technology Manager is accountable for the design and engineering aspects and effective execution of all new projects secured in Shanghai SIU.
Execute effective day to day management of all engineering and design programs, engineering tools and technical design management
 
Main Tasks
Assist SIU General Manager and Sales Manager to execute SI winning strategies and plans from design stand point.
Ensure best and most effective use of all engineering resources to complete design and engineering phase of each project.
 
Ensure that all projects are:
1. Aligned with SIU strategy and BU financial requirement
2. Adequately resourced and within project budget
3. Meeting on time delivery of time, cost and specification of projects
4. Accurately reported, ensure design transparency
5. Monitored closely and timely, corrective action taken when necessary to meet project objectives
6. Adequately supported & maintained up to date drawings throughout the project  lifecycle
7. Managed project archives according to required procedures
8. Following group IP policy, ensuring protection of all core technology processes and know-how
9. Providing innovation leadership, coordinated with other ABB SIU units in the region.
10.Ensuring adherence to all common BU guidelines and technology platform/re-use plans
11. Support development and training needs of all engineering team members.

Job Responsibilities
1. Responsible to ensure his engineering team develops the design and engineering in accordance to project specifications.
2. Responsible to manage all the technical risk mitigation/avoidance and continuity support throughout the project life cycle.
3. Responsible for implementing and educating his team members to use SIU’s standard engineering tools and processes for all projects.
4. Responsible to work closely with Project Managers to ensure engineering phase is maintained/improve as required by project schedule
 
Pre Requisite to the Position
Knowledge and Skill
1. Good understanding in electrical hazardous equipment requirement
2. Good understanding and application knowledge of hazardous area classification
3. Good communication and execution skills. Good understanding of intercultural sensitivity
4. Knowledge on process analyzers and its application will be an added advantage
5. Technical experience in the petrochemical, oil & gas industries is essential
6. Knowledge of 3D modeling is essential
7. Understanding of analyzer application and analytical system package use in the oil and gas industries will be an added advantage
Personality: 
1. Self-driven and result orientated with positive outlook; analytical and ‘have eye for details’ with clear focus on high quality and business profit
2. Mature, with high integrity and an empathic communicator who is comfortable in dealing with high and working level in organization
3. Participative team player, as well as, able to lead with confidence and trust
 
Experience:
1. Minimum 8 to10 years working experience, preferably in the analytical business
2. Possess good communication skills with ability to manage cultural diversity; working in MNC environment and willing to travel.
Education Background:
1. Minimum with recognized diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Process Engineering
2. Computer literacy and competency in Microsoft Office tools.
