Position Summary:
The Senior Software Engineer for PacketCable will be responsible for integrating TI and Broadcom eMTA reference designs into SMC's advanced service gateways. This includes a deep understanding of the reference designs and the associated APIs for developing new software features, detailed designs, and the software C code required for completion. The Senior Software Engineer will also work with other software and test engineers to deliver product releases on time while meeting customer expectations for content and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a solution-oriented mindset, excellent programming skills and work well with teams to complete large software projects.
Work with the product management team to define new features.
Work with the software team to scope the resources needed to complete assigned projects.
Ensure successful delivery of development projects from both a time and quality perspective.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work with groups across multiple time zones.
While the major duties listed above will take much of the Senior Software Engineer's time, other duties may be added as needed. SMC Networks values employees who are flexible and able to meet any challenge that comes our way.
Skills, Experience, Education, and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
· A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field; Masters degree preferred
· Five (5) years experience in software development of networking devices

Proven ability to configure and troubleshooting networking equipment
· Knowledge of software development cycle, software estimation methods, software project management and risk management
· An in depth understanding of Cable Modems, PacketCable, CMTS, and HFC networks

An in depth knowledge of VoIP protocols and hands on interoperability experiences in MGCP/NCS, SIP, DECT, RTP, RTCP, QoS, call features, call security, bulk call, battery life
· Must familiar with Softswitch and IMS networks
· C programming in Linux and other embedded operating system
· Experience in wireless network design, implementation, security, and support is a plus.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work diverse group within the company
· Must be a flexible self-starter who can ramp up with new technologies quickly
· Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills, good oral and written communication skills, and excellent analytical skills
