Position Summary:
The successful QA Engineer will maintain test plans, execute tests cases, and their automation. You will ensure excellent product quality. Also regularly communicate the status and results in a clear and concise manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain thoroughly documented product test plans and specific test cases in QA system
Contribute in the test tool automation effort
Review product requirements documents and related standards/specifications and update test plans accordingly
Enter all found defects into tracking system
Work with Product/Sales Engineering to ensure understanding of product requirements and customer usage
Determine resource and time estimates for test efforts
Assist with scheduling and resource estimates for projects
Assist Technical Support, Sales Engineers, and Product Marketing with testing as necessary which includes wireless interoperability
Assist with coordination of testing efforts within the company and at partner companies
Create clear and concise test reports tailored for both internal and external audiences
Assist with test plan automation
Embrace continuous quality improvement program

While the major duties listed above will take much of the QA Engineer's time, other duties may be added as needed. SMC Networks values employees who are flexible and able to meet any challenge that comes our way.
Skills, Experience, Education, and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
· Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field
· Experience in a QA capacity at an ISP and/or networking equipment manufacturer environment

Proven ability to configure networks; troubleshooting experience a plus
Understanding of network and application protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, HTTP, DNS, SNMP, NAT, TELNET, SSH, routing, firewall, and VPN
· Cable modem, DOCSIS, PacketCable, CMTS, and HFC experience

Understanding of voice solutions including cable eMTA, DOCSIS, PacketCable, VoIP, SIP, and circuit switched
· Wireless network design, implementation, security, and support
· Operating system experience, including installation and configuration of applications in Windows and Linux
· TR-069 experience a plus

Excellent communication skills and ability to work diverse group within the company
· Must be a flexible self-starter who can ramp up with new technologies quickly
· Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills, good oral and written communication skills, and excellent analytical skills
