This position will report to the Director, Product Application Engineering in US. This position will be a key technical interface to world-wide customers to encourage acceptance of NeoPhotonics active products in their current and new product designs. This person works closely with Sales, Product Line Managers, product development, product manufacturing and marketing teams. There would be frequent travel – 25% (approximately) to support customers. The location for the position is in Wuhan, China.

Specific responsibilities include:
? Work closely with sales to supply technical support to key customers worldwide.
? Particularly focus on 100G products for data com and telecom markets.
? Primary responsibility is managing and negotiating technical specifications and generating gap analysis; setting up the product requirements for internal teams.
? Product deliverables and activities including:
o Engineering of product samples and prototypes through conceptual design build, and data analysis,
o Customer design review participation, specification creation and specification response
o On-site technical supports and field application engineering
o Development and management of customer technical documents such as application notes, corrective actions, analysis reports, manufacturing test plans, performance and improvement plans, reliability qualification plans and reports.
Requirements and Experience:
The individual for the Product Engineering position should have:

? Minimum of 5 years engineering or application engineering experience in managing active optical component/transceiver products for Telecom and/or DataCom markets.
? Fluent English is must.
? An advanced degree in the physical sciences, electrical engineering or equivalent, together with substantial technical sales and customer experience are plus.
? Familiar with detailed product specs and standards/MSAs of transceiver products.
? Direct experience in NPD and NPI processes with either an optical components company or a module/sub-system OEM.
? Practical working knowledge of design/test and specification of active optical components, like XFP, SFP+, CFP, QSFP+ optical transceivers.
? High speed component or subsystem (> 10 GB/s) especially with high OE integration of parallel optics is highly desirable.
? Familiarity with MDIO and I2C communication and Transceiver firmware structure & functionality is required;
? Ability to travel domestically and internationally for customer support with frequent trips to our customers.
