Summary:
· Liaises and coordinates with customers’ product design and engineering team to ensure customers’ design specifications and requirements are understood by correlating customers’ requirements with design, development and production capability.
· Responsible for technical aspects of programs including part design from prototype stage through to program kickoff.
· Identifies new product opportunities for Wescast and works with customers to develop and finalize product designs that considers Wescast manufacturing capabilities
· Facilitate the resolution of issues such as quality, delivery issues and commercial issues in conjunction with the Program Manager and Account Managers between kick off and production launch to ensure customer satisfaction.

Task Description：

Customer Liaison and Coordination:

1 Liaises with Business Units and/or WCO team members to ensure customer requirements are known and understood
2 Works with customer and Business Units to ensure designs and drawings are kept up to date.
3 Liaises with customers’ engineering/purchasing/quality groups to ensure manufacturing feasibility regarding prototype/production (product design) and process changes.
4 Provides support to APQP Teams regarding internal and external customer requirements and acts as a key member of the APQP team.
5 In conjunction with the Program Manager and Account Manager; communicates the APQP/ launching process and status to the customer
6 In conjunction with the Program Manager and Account Manager; resolves internal and external issues while maintaining customer relations
7 Completes the DFMEA in conjunction with Program Manager and the APQP team.
8 Maintains contact with customers to be aware of their needs, expectations and systems. Maintains knowledge of customer’s technological directions, including products and materials. Understands how to market technical solutions to the customer in line with overall Wescast strategy.

Product Design/Advanced Engineering:

9 Researches the design and development of exhaust manifold and turbo housing solutions by providing design direction and expertise. This includes working collaboratively, and cooperatively with various Wescast teams and individuals such as Program Managers, Launch teams, Product Engineering Teams, Design Engineers and Sales.
10 Researches new product and material applications for Wescast from information gathered through customer contacts in engineering and advanced engineering
11 Co-ordinates the technical information exchange within Wescast, sharing ideas and possible technical solutions to solve customer problems thereby creating opportunities for Wescast.
12 Facilitates technical information exchange and possible technical solutions from Wescast to its customers.
13 For new innovation products and projects, researches the submission of development - level Statement of Work and Engineering Budgets as required for review by the Leader.
14 Gathers the required technical information and details to effectively create, manage and support product innovation plan.
15 For new innovation or corporate non core product opportunities; coordinates the development of plans for prototype and production programs through the use of Gantt charts; Customer APQP tracking checklists; and establishing and meeting target dates.
16 Performs a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices and programs with Wescast.
17 Schedules activities to maximize customer contact and fulfil APQP responsibilities in conjunction with the Program Manager

18 Promotes the Scanlon principles and participates actively in Continuous Improvement process.
19 Competent and knowledgeable on all Wescast manufacturing processes.
20 Performs other tasks as assigned by management and customer.

Minimum Job Requirements:
· University Degree in Engineering.
· 0- 2 years foundry and engineering experience in the manufacturing and automotive industry
· Understanding of GD&T – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
· Understanding of OEM engineering and development processes
· Understanding of gas and diesel engine requirements
· Understanding of CAE, Magmasoft, CFD and FEA and other advanced engineering tools
· Presentation skills required for the presentation of WII Technical materials to in-house and international customers
· Understanding of 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Statistical methods relevant to the auto industry
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
· Organizational, project management and planning skills
· Knowledge of machining, fabrication and assembly as asset
