Basic Purpose and Scope
The primary function of this position is to manage all technical aspects for customer specific programs. This includes curst processing, finishing processes and testing issues. This also includes review of technical issues for both internal and external customers. Manage the launch of customer specific programs within the PD department into a productive environment. Provide direct technical support to the production teams relative to launch including the process development and “Scale up” trials for new processes formulas on specific products. Ensure our global product architecture is maintained. Serve as the lead technical liaison for the above customer programs and ensure the voice of the customer is understood and met.
Principal Activities:
Manage all technical aspects for customer specific programs. This includes curst processing, finishing processes and cutting issues. This also includes review of technical issues for both internal and external customers.
Launch of customer specific programs being developed by the PD team into the production environment. Ensure process development practices and proper “scale-up” trials are conducted and key metrics met.
Provide Direct Technical support to the customer and to the local team. Ensure all customer warrants; submissions, etc. are made in accordance with their expectations.
Support and maintain our product architecture concepts and drive continuous improvement of this system.
Support innovation and technology projects as requested. Follow an area of assignment and report out as directed.
Typical Problem
Working to align schedules and evaluations of new finishing routines and materials to support new product development.
Most Complex Challenge
Developing a product and process that compensates for production & PD limitations and meets all stakeholder needs.
Long-Range Challenge
Develop Company into the most competitive supplier for that customer.
Required Education, Training and/or Experience:
The most appropriate min education for this position is a university degree
Education to be in the following or a related area: Chemistry, Materials, Leather, Coatings, Engineering
The most appropriate level of experience for this position is 10 or more years plus the education listed above.
Skills and Background:
Knowledge of polymer chemistry and understanding of mathematics. Working knowledge of Microsoft office Suite.
Proven experience in Leather Finishing with 10 years experience. Automotive perferred
Working knowledge of all automotive QC management systems will be plus.
Working knowledge of all automotive leather finishing machinery.
