Job Description

1. Support global teams worldwide with current China sourcing activities

2. Improve supplier quality through upgrading vendors & adding new vendors

3. Establishes high quality, low cost supply base in China

4. Achieve the purchasing objectives within the defined categories according to the agreed goals and approved budgets in line with the company's overall strategies. Specific objectives include new China sourcing spend targets as well as China sourcing export savings.

5. Develop framework agreements and implement usage of such by all "authorized buyers"

6. Negotiate all major framework agreements at Global level

7. Build up efficient reporting systems

8. Support Regional purchasing in negotiations and market research

9. Foster coordination and best practice sharing efforts of commodity teams

10. Ensure maximized use of procurement systems (SAP) and full evaluation of all potential opportunities
Participate in development of new Procurement Tools

11. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for global commodities

12. To source and select suppliers timely that meet Quality, Volume, Cost criteria to meet company business objectives.

13. Establish supplier category strategy for the export business
Meet and or exceed annual materials cost reduction and competency expectation..

14. Develop cost model commodity, including understanding of commodity “current” ; “potential” ; “ideal” price.

15. Develop purchasing strategies for assigned commodity to achieve ideal price and meet cost savings target in line with the global commodity strategies

16. Manage the purchasing pipeline, develop timely purchasing actions in support of current and new programs and meeting cost targets and timing.

17. Support cost estimating by ensuring cost book information is current and with appropriate future years forecast pricing.

18. Continuous search and understanding of the commodity supply base ensuring understanding of new market trend, new technology, new processes, new competitive supply base that will meet the changing business of the company.

The Successful Applicant

1. You will develop & implement Global strategies for export in collaboration with global commodity teams

2. You will identify, negotiate and manage your suppliers with consideration for the requirements of your internal customers across the different Tenneco sites globally

3. You will lead supplier launch coordination with manufacturing sites in alignment with global purchasing commodity teams.

4. You will Support respective project prototype sourcing and purchasing requirements.

5. You will Support improvement of supplier launch process for successful transition into production and support lean manufacturing needs in alignment with operational expectations for packaging, delivery and inventory management.

6. You will liaise to business units, as required.

7. Responsible for commodities with high value and high complex parts

8. Functions independently with minimal supervision and techncal guidance
Demonstrates knowledge of relevant purchasing procedures and knowledge of relevant corporate procedures

9. Good negotiating skills and able to lead team negotiation as well.

10. Presentation skills

11. Able to facilitate most conflict situations and appropriately seek immediate supervisor’s assistance

Profile

1. You have a university degree in e engineering or equivalent experience

2. You have over ten years of relevant working experience, preferably within the purchasing area in a multi-site environment within a global company with established China sourcing

3. Additional experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

4. You are familiar with contract negotiation

5. You are fluent in English & Chinese.

6. You have excellent negotiation skills and are able to communicate on all levels in the organization

7. You are capable to initiate, lead and follow up on team activities

8. You are analytical and a good time manager

9. You are willing to travel up to 40 %

10. You are stress resistant and able to prioritize

11. You have the ability to use SAP

12. You need demonstrated ability and skills to support automotive OEM product launch process (i.e. NPIS or equivalent, APQP process knowledge).

13. You are strong leadership with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
