Job Description

The role of Senior IT Technician is to support and develop the implementation of all IT systems (including CAD applications) in the R-China office in line with Ricardo Group IT policies. Technically you will have a good knowledge of IT systems and experience in maintaining and implementing them in a business environment.
This is an exciting time for Ricardo and the Shanghai office and this role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting growing team. The role will require some one that is personable, proactive and forward thinking to work closely with the UK IT team to implement and grow the IT structure in line with the Business needs in China.

Main Responsibilities

?End user support of PC Hardware (desktop, workstation and laptop) e.g. physically delivering / moving machines, swapping / upgrading components, imaging (WDS/MDT), software installation, user files / settings migration and troubleshooting.
?Good knowledge of common PC Software including Operating Systems (XP / Vista / 7) and Desktop Applications (MS Office 2003/2007, MS Project, MS Visio, Adobe, IE etc).
?Basic Windows Server support - Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008
?Server & Network Hardware support - Physical installation, Component replacement, Managing external Engineers, RAID setup, UPS management
?Backup management - Symantec BackupExec, changing tapes, basic troubleshooting
?End user support / troubleshooting of peripherals such as printers & projectors.
?Good level of familiarity with web based applications and technology.
?Familiar with basic networking concepts e.g. DHCP, DNS, Patching, Troubleshooting.
?Familiar with VNC and Terminal Services or other remote support tools.
?Familiarity with telephone switching system
?Asset management
?Will be required to work closely in English (Written & Spoken) with UK/Prague based IT teams
?Hardware / software purchasing
?IT supplier management and budgeting
?Will be required to promote and help develop Global IT policies
?Conduct Training / Identify Training Needs

Other Relevant Information of benefit:

?Knowledge of Dell hardware
?Knowledge of Engineering / CAD applications e.g. Catia, PTC Pro/E & Windchill
?Basic Linux Knowledge e.g. creating user accounts, use of command line, file management

? Previous experience in similar role
? Prepared to travel to Ricardo UK and Prague
? Flexible attitude to working with multinational company and different time differences
? Fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
