The Legal Counsel is based in Shanghai, PRC with responsibility for the legal affairs of Bridgestone China as assigned by General Counsel and Legal Section Manager (the “Assigned Businesses”). This role will be responsible for legal support of Assigned Businesses, focusing primarily on identifying and managing significant and operational legal matters for Assigned Businesses and providing strategic direction and advising on legal matters to Assigned Businesses. The Legal Counsel, reports to Legal Section Manager, Bridgestone China and be responsible for the followings:

  

  

Key Responsibilities

  

• Provides legal support to Assigned Businesses, identifying and managing their significant as well as operational legal matters.

• Serves as focal contact for Assigned Businesses with respect to legal matters.

• Builds a trusted advisor relationship with Assigned Businesses on a variety of topics, beyond legal risk assessment.

• Works with and manage outside counsel on arbitrations and litigations for Assigned Businesses.

• Reviews and monitors regulatory changes, advise Assigned Businesses accordingly.

• Design and conduct legal trainings of various topics to Assigned Businesses.

• Provide support to various Compliance projects, trainings and investigations.

• Other responsibilities assigned by General Counsel or Legal Section Manager

Job Requirements:

Education: A Master’s degree in Law from a renowned law school and minimum of 5 years’ experience in a reputable law firm or at MNC in-house position. PRC Bar is required, overseas degree and bar would be a plus.

Technical Legal Skills: Demonstrated ability to advise on a breadth of legal and business matters; a results-oriented legal professional with experience in the PRC, who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves to get the job done; a legal professional who has demonstrated intellect, vision, and judgment; commitment to operational excellence; negotiate with customers, vendors and opposing parties in litigation; ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner.

Business Acumen: Able to provide legal services to support a fast moving business with a well-defined culture; a lawyer who uses knowledge of the law and business to advise on risk/reward trade-offs evaluating legal issues in the context of larger enterprise business goals. Recognized as a trusted advisor to the business/function on legal issues and their intersection with business goals.

Communication: Fluency in written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin) and English are required. Japanese language skills are preferred but not essential. Candidate will need to take online English level test provided by the company.
