职位描述

Role Development of Ricardo clean energy and wind turbine business from energy utilities and key Tier 1 suppliers within the Chinese clean energy industry.
Position within organisation This is a key position reporting to the Executive Vice President of Ricardo's Shanghai Division. Responsible for taking initiatives in Business Development activities in clean energy
Education: Likely to be degree educated in an engineering or related discipline. Business qualification desirable.
Experience: Essential


Experience of selling engineering services or products (preferably wind/solar energy related,


Natural ability to develop business relationships with new clients / contacts and internal personnel
Ability to identify new business opportunities, develop exploitation plans and lead the implementation
Highly motivated and high level of resilience to cope with a rapidly changing business environment and demanding client requirements
Proven track record in delivering order intake targets
Exceptional technical and commercial communication skills both internally and with clients at all levels
Well developed presentation skills allowing the individual to generate new business opportunities through targeted presentations to customers
Strong commercial skills including negotiation and awareness of industry cost base


Preferred


Strong technical background in solar energy or wind turbine systems and previous project management experience are highly desirable.

IT skills: High level of PC and general computer skills, including good presentation awareness / preparation skills.


Awareness of CAE, CAD, and links to customer CAD systems.

Responsibilities: Identifying and delivering the order intake from the defined Chinese market through:


Taking necessary actions to strengthen existing markets and identifies new market opportunities
Understanding customer organizations and analysis of customer needs
Developing relationships within target customers at all levels including purchasing and product planning functions and identifying business opportunities, using good database of existing personal contacts
Keeping close relationship with product groups of other Ricardo divisions to develop sales plans to exploit opportunities in clean energy sector
Presenting template proposals to targeted customers to work out quality RFQs for product groups
Working closely with Ricardo Product Group and Engineering teams to develop clear proposals that meet customer needs and requirements
Presenting proposals to customers at senior levels and defining key scope / responsibilities, and selling the value. Understanding when to introduce senior technical / PG teams to support the winning process
Negotiating commercial terms
Obtaining purchase orders
Customer and competitor analysis
Preparing order intake forecasts for budgeting
Delivering order intake and commission budget year-on-year



Qualities: Person with good business/commercial sense. Ability to work and communicate effectively with others of a different culture a must. Patient. Able to manage and prioritise own workload. Automotive background a major advantage. Flexible attitude to working hours. Willingness to travel within China on a regular basis. Approachable people motivator and natural ability to build business relationships with new contacts. Track record of winning new business. Strong supplier / service provider background, most likely via consultancy or tier 1 / 2. Tenacious yet pragmatic and patient.
