JOB SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for having the skill set to develop and implement a formal commodity strategy, source new components, drive cost reductions, enhance quality performance and support programs throughout their entire life cycle. The Buyer will manage the suppliers within an Extended Enterprise framework in support of the team in accordance with the Purchasing Responsibility Matrix. Domestic and international travel is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Ability to analyze cost structures/drivers relating to supplier price submissions.

· Ability to successfully negotiate prices, timing, and terms in support of Inergy's objectives.

· Ability to conceptualize and understand multiple production processes and related equipment requirements/specifications.

· Basic ability to understand product description and basic design from blueprints.

· Knowledge of fundamental purchasing practices, procedures, and policies.

· Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel, PowerPoint), basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages, and ability to utilize applicable ERP system.

· Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers.

· Capacity to effectively communicate expectations both internally and externally.

· Must be flexible, dependable and creative.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Professional verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data.

· Must be able to manage time and determine priorities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing industry environment, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing industry environment. Automotive background is preferred.
