GE Lighting

Role Summary/Purpose

Asia Controller is responsible for ensuring sound controllership, driving a culture of excellence, accountability, transparency, process-orientation and sound compliance in Lighting business across Asia and process simplification & compliance efforts. The role partners with CFO and business effectively to manage distributed controllership and risk in the region. The business has operation in Asia Pacific region across 12 countries/areas.

Essential Responsibilities

- Ensure fair statement and timely reporting of DR4s and other accounting schedules to HQ, partner with CFO and team on quarterly and annual closing processes
- Formulate and review key accounting, finance and compliance policies on a regular basis
- Stay on top of all key accounting & controllership issues across Asia and keep CFO briefed on a timely basis
- Set up and execute quality landscape calendar to build controllership operating rhythm, execute internal audit as part of distributed controllership framework
- Ensure rigor in account reconciliation and audit process by maintaining a review rhythm
- Manage Rep letter process with clarity and transparency
- Manage JVs from controllership side on annual audit, quarterly finance statements review and key accounting & process issues follow up
- Partner with ERP project team to support ERP implementation and take lead on relevant controllership areas
- Drive timely completion and filings of external audits and tax and ensure up-to-date S2G reconciliations
- Drive simplification and standardization in accounting operation and closing processes
- Provide support on tax issues and partner with pricing team on transfer pricing review, partner with treasury on banking controls
- Support GOF transition across Asia

Technical controls
- Lead technical training and rollouts of new GE GAPs to the finance teams
- Manage the MJEs approval process and track all key entries
- Lead revenue recognition quarterly cut off testing, annual lead time assessment
- Lead technical accounting, e.g. restructuring and BD accounting

Compliance
- Partner with legal counsel to refresh compliance policies and provide training for Asia Lighting
- Perform high risk payment audit, workflow and reports to drive compliance with corporate improper payment policy
- Lead annual compliance letter process and drive action accordingly

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications
- University graduate in accounting or finance
- FMP, CAS graduate, CPA and auditor background preferred
- 10+ years of experience in accounting & finance and at least 3 years in management position
- Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP and authoritative accounting literature
- Fluent (verbal and written) English and Mandarin

Desired Characteristics

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. Previous experience in Financial Services. CPA, MBA or Master’s degree. Experience with GE financial and operating systems such as Oracle and Hyperion. Green belt certified.
