Asia Pacific Manufacturing Control System Director




Location: Shanghai



Leading USA Based Fortune 500 Manufacturer

· Lead a technical team that develop and deploy state of the art measurement, process control, power systems, hardware and software engineering capabilities in support of early stage, pilot and high volume manufacturing for cost reduction, process improvement, technology transfers and expansion projects.

· Project assignment will involve traveling to China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and S. Korea.

· Advance and maintain technical competencies in MCS by actively participating and leading control system architecture, hardware and software designs, instrumentation and measurement systems, and automatic process and power control engineering initiatives. .

· Actively lead, manage, support, and execute MCS innovation for cost reduction, capacity expansion, manufacturing improvement, new process/product development and contract manufacturing projects in support of all business operations across Asia.

· Maintain and advance knowledge in the state of the art application of measurement, control and power systems/technologies to the design of equipment, process/product prototyping, and factory automation.

· Initiate and lead process control systems technology projects as appropriate to support competency and capability development to advance operations competitive advantage.

· Champion effective deployment of documented manufacturing controls and measurement systems best practices on all department projects.

· Responsible for establishing training and development programs/processes to enhance staffs' competencies, capabilities and skills in core technologies through project assignments, training, coaching, seminars and conferences.

· Visit direct reports work sites and engage the key customers on the employees' performances and contributions in meeting the project objectives and expectations. Provide help as appropriate.

· MS Degree in Electrical, or Mechanical automation engineering. Prefer Advanced Degree

· Minimum 10 years experience in leading highly technical multi-discipline and multi-cultural engineering organization

· Prior engineering experience with technical/project leadership responsibility for the design, development, and deployment of robust cost effective measurement, power and control systems for product manufacturing.

· Experience in manufacturing information Systems with process data collection and controls.

· Hands on control systems software architecture such as

Machine sequencing control using PLC (Mitsubishi, Siemens or Allen Bradley)
Programming Languages NetArrays, VB, C++
Industrial SCADA and DCS (e.g. FiX-DMACS, LabView, Wonderware, Honeywell).
Fundamental understanding of process feedback control such as PID, Motion Controls and other advanced control algorithm and methodologies.


· Measurement and control systems algorithm and applications to manufacturing process

· Traditional transducers and instrumentation as well as advance lasers, vision, optics, and acoustics, systems for charactering process parameters and products attributes.

· Understanding of Electrical codes & standards in the design of power and control systems for manufacturing facilities and processes.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin).

· Shop floor and factory network systems architecture design for data integrity and reliability.

· Process Control systems integration (software and hardware background)
