Product Engineer Developer (USA)-Product Development Engineer-Leading USA Sporting Goods Manufacturer

This position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Candidates must be able to live in the USA

Manages and executes the product specification creation and documentation process from the development phase though the productions sign off phase of the new product lifecycle. The Sourced Product Engineering Developer is an integral member of a cooperative team-based working environment that assumes primary responsibility for nearly all aspects of their assigned projects for this portion of the product lifecycle. Incumbent will act as the bridge between Product Managers, Designers, Offshore Vendors, Quality Assurance and Planning and Purchasing team members to complete projects within the company's published timelines, costing and spending goals.

Core Responsibilities:

25% - To design and develop new sourced products:

？？Strive to create the most innovative and market leading products possible. Products will be evaluated for success using the following criteria: technology utilization, quality, aesthetics, timely completion, manufacturability and realized margins.

？？Work with Product Team to brainstorm innovative ideas and concepts for new products.

？？Help to build and maintain a comprehensive materials and trims library, for use in product brainstorming and conceptualization.

25% - To create specifications and documentation:

？？Create comprehensive tech data packages that meet the product’s goals for performance, innovation, image, function, and commercial viability. Continually maintain these tech data packages, checking for completeness and errors.

？？Review as part of the design tech package 2D AI files, 2D mold drawings, 3D CAD files, models, pictures, exploded views, etc. Be available to consult with Design and the vendor on any questions they may have concerning the Design Package.

？？Create internal documentation required for purchasing, receiving inspection, any in-house processes or operations.

25% - To build and test prototypes, buyoff samples and initial production lots:

？？According to project schedule, work with vendors to get quotations, raw material and tooling on time for desired introduction.

？？Order and receive engineering prototypes from vendors on time for desired introduction.

？？Test engineering prototypes according to engineering specifications and test plan for all performance, cosmetic, physical and mechanical attributes. Document results according to procedure. Work with Product team and vendor to resolve any noted deficiencies and re-test on time for desired introduction.

？？Monitor initial production lots at vendor and at ETP Receiving Inspection to ensure that initial shipments meet all requirements.

25% - To establish and manage outside sourcing:

？？In conjunction with the Product Manager, Identify and cultivate appropriate outside contractors that can best serve our needs. When possible, establish alternate/redundant supplies to ensure source of supply and facilitate price comparisons.

？？Work with the Product Manager to identify and partner with global suppliers who can provide the best combination of quality, timely delivery and price.

？？In conjunction with Product Managers and Purchasing, communicate product specifications and quality standards, and our methods of controlling/measuring.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

？？Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

？？Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (REQUIRED); Master’s Degree desired

？？3 to 5 years minimum consumer product development/engineering experience. A background in the outdoor and/or archery industry, or a related field.

？？3 years experience with Asian suppliers desired

？？25 % International travel will be required

？？Knowledge of plastics, textiles, and embellishment techniques is required.

？？Ability to work in several cross-functional teams

？？Strong leadership and organizational skills.

？？Ability to juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities.

？？High-level of problem-solving and decision making abilities.

？？Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.

？？Prior experience working with overseas factories and vendors is highly desired.

？？Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.

？？Proficiency in a 3D software program such as Solid Works is required. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a plus.

？？Familiarity with material properties, manufacturing processes and product development is required.

？？Experience with injection molding, working with plastic parts, and 3D modeling is required
