2. Information about the assignment
Position: Engineering Manager
Report to: Quality Systems Manager
Location: Zibo, Shandong, China

Main responsibilities:
This position provides process and project engineering and technical resources management in order to optimize the production facilities operation to meet the plant’s objectives in the areas of safety, quality and cost and to assure future growth by planning for and implementing process improvements. The incumbent is responsible for process research & development, quoting new business and managing the capital plan.

R&D – Lead improvements in process quality, features and efficiency through the management of Engineering and Process Technical staff. Liaise with Sales, Sales Service and Customer Quality on product performance and the company engineering on process improvement and development.
Information Technology – Responsibility for ensuring the Process Automation systems.
Environment, Health and Safety – Contribute to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace which promotes the continued well-being of employees, equipment, facility and community.
Financial Control – Develop, implement and control spending for both Capital and R&D Expense budgets to ensure expected plant efficiencies and financial returns. Act as the local resource for providing new product quotes.
Human Resources – Provide supervision to the Engineering department to ensure high quality personnel performance and development.
Strategy – Participate with the local leadership in planning and implementing strategic initiatives to ensure long-term viability of the local and regional corporate entities.
Quality – Identify and eliminate problems before and as they occur using the corporate values of Lean, Six Sigma, Fairness, Customer Concern and Rapid Response.

3. Desired profile of the candidate

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a polytechnic university

Language:
Fluently speaks, reads and writes Mandarin and English

Possible age range:
Preferred age range is from 29 to 40 (TBC)

Professional experience:
Seasoned professional who speaks, reads and writes fluent Mandarin and English with at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
7 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering, facility or related position within a large multinational automotive manufacturing operation. Preferably in a major international company or division of a large automotive manufacturing corporation.
Must have working knowledge in the following areas: OEM manufacturing and/or Aftermarket operations, proficiency in all local and regional statutory policies, standards and reporting including building code, fire code, electrical and mechanical standards, etc. The product and process development responsibilities require a sound understanding of automotive laminated glass product and manufacturing process, automation and electrical and mechanical engineering standards and automotive product development standards, customer specifications and standards and quality systems including Lean/Six Sigma. Knowledge of Total Process Maintenance (TPM) standards and processes will also be a requirement.
Budget development and control will be a must.
Health and safety, training and environmental matters and understand regulatory and corporate policies, procedures and standards will be preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with a recognized and/or certified accreditation or professional status.
Supervisory experience including teambuilding.
