QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
1.Education: university degree PhD or M.S. with at least eight years of regulatory related area or toxicology in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and toxicology preferred. Toxicology certification (DABT) a plus but not required. Experiences: about 5 (+) years in chemical, food or feed industry with experience in Toxicology or related works (e.g. in chemical registration or product safety or R&D, etc.) or M.S. with at least eight years of regulatory toxicology experience.
2.Know-how/skills:
a.Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements /legislation with a wide knowledge of physical-chemical, eco-toxicological and toxicological studies.
b.Some familiarity with key regulatory agencies in China related to food safety and quality preferred.
c.In depth knowledge of complex regulations
d.Complete adherence to regulatory compliance and company standards
e.Ability to manage complex issues related to substance registration
f.Can work under permanent pressure
g.Good cooperation skills
h.Working knowledge of relevant Chinese and Asia Pacific regional chemical control regulations is important

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Analyze data (including toxicological data) for assigned ingredients and products to determine human or animal health hazard or to author hazard assessments, calculate human exposures, develop risk assessments or to satisfy regulatory requirements for products submitted for registrations or permits in China.
2.Prepare product summary (including toxicological and other data) documents for submission to Chinese regulatory agencies.
3.Coordinate the testing (physical chemistry, toxicological, and other data) needed to support new ingredients and for existing registrations.
4.Work with exposure assessment group to perform risk assessments.
5.Review any new studies/information and pro-actively assess the impact.
6.Develop testing strategies to minimize cost and expenditures as much as possible for all these activities
7.Conduct study monitoring activities for studies (toxicology, safety) placed at contract research organizations. To ensure that the choice of contract research organizations used is compliant with Kemin policies and standards.
8.To ensure that toxicological, safety, and physical -chemical data used for registrations and hazard communication purposes are kept up to date and maintained in the appropriate system(s). To communicate changes with the relevant stakeholders.
9.Participation in product development project teams to provide guidance on safety strategy for supporting new products and technologies will be required Significant amount of collaboration required among safety scientists and product development people across the globe
10.Investigate and resolve compliance issues, questions, or complaints received from internal departments, external customers and government agencies.
11.Keep abreast of relevant new regulations and directives relating to chemical hazard and risk assessment, perform impact assessments, inform the businesses and propose actions relevant to compliance and risk assessment.
12.Assist in the development, review and approval of product and packaging/labels and appropriate claims.
13.Provide product and packaging guidance during product development and stage gate process
14.Monitor legislative changes, new guidance documents, and review activities related to ingredients and products and communicate internally.
15.Perform hazard assessments for risk evaluation purposes for regulatory dossiers, and existing registrations or product marketing.
16.Work with R&D, Regulatory Affairs and business teams in the commercialization of new products or ingredients including the placement of toxicology studies and interpretation of related data and the submission of new substance notifications in China.
