Position available: PEPPER BREEDER

We are looking for a motivated breeder, who will be working on sweet and hot pepper and will be based mainly at our trial and demonstration farm in Shanghai-Songjiang district and our Shouguang farm in Shandong.

Job description

• Conduct all operational activities related to the breeding of pepper varieties in China.

Job tasks

• Collect breeding material and germplasm.
• Advise and discuss about field trial locations, contribute to management of trials, contacts with farm manager.
• Design and setup of breeding trials.
• Conduct the total pepper breeding program, including selfings, crosses and selection of breeding lines.
• Build up knowledge about breeding material in relation to the markets.
• Collect and analyze breeding data from field trials.
• Quality and purity control of parental lines and hybrids.
• other activities associated with this position

Communication skills

· English language in speaking, writing and reading is required.

· Capable to present and discuss results with colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Master or PhD degree in plant breeding.
• At least 5 years experience in a similar position in the seed industry.
• Knowledge and interest in plant pathology and horticultural science preferable.
• Creative and dedicated to quality in all aspects of your work.
• Able to collect and analyze breeding data with standard computer hard- and software.
• Keep in touch of recent developments related to your job by literature, attending congresses.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
