Overall Purpose of Job:

The role of the application engineeirng manager (CD) is to provide engineering leadership for CD-EPS application projects. They are accountable for the successful engineering delivery of the project and have authority on all engineering decisions and over all allocated engineering resource.

Major Responsibilities:

List major areas of responsibilities and accountabilities of the position. Where appropriate, include quantifiable data; i.e., budget dollars.

· Hands on technical direction for the project - taking into account input from the functional managers

· Lead the application engineering teams to proactively identifying and managing technical risk within the project

· Lead the application engineering teams on development of the project plan, identifies resource and budget requirements

· Ensures that the appropriate resources and budgets are allocated to deliver the project

· Managing progress of the team against the engineering plan, escalating issues appropriately

· Ensuring quality and timeliness of project deliverables, internal and external to TRW

· Management and control of the engineering spend against the project budget

· Representing engineering in the cross-functional project team - Interfacing to other TRW departments

· Sets EPDP objectives for team members and provides performance feedback

Key Competencies:

Critical skills, abilities and characteristics necessary to perform job responsibilities.

· Solid experience with product development processes for automotive products, ideally steering system.

· Knowledge of international and local industry standards related to design and testing (SAE, ISO, etc.)

· Familiar with vehicle OEMs in China and rich experience in product application

· Experience in product validation plans (DV & PV) and vehicle testing/tuing.

· Design tools knowledge: d&pFMEA, DRBFM, Stack up analysis, etc.

· Exposed to Quality Systems & CIS tools such as: APQP, 8D, DOE, SS, etc.

· Strong communication, negotiation and team building capacities/capabilities.

· Able to manage and develop a team of application engineers.

· Able to manage negotiation with Customers and other functions.

· Fluent in English, other languages knowledge will be beneficial.
